Which nbn Provider Plus Plan to Go with?

Hello,

So we are looking to upgrade our NBN service to a higher speed tier. Currently we are with Aussie Broadband with 25/5 tier and 600gb of data for $65 a month. We like AB with their service etc but to step up to their next tier 50/5 it seems a bit too pricey for the data you get.

Can you recommend any other providers that are as good but also at a good price?
Looking at a plan that has minium 400GBdata.

I have looked at a few providers like Belong, TPG offering the better deals but am unsure on their service.

Cheers

  • How much extra are Aussie Broadband quoting you? On their website it's only an extra $10 per month for 50/20 or $20 per month for 100/20 compared to what you have now. That gets you 500GB data but you can add an extra $4 per month to that for unlimited data.

  • I have TPG 50 plan and it works well. I run HFC off my old cable and it goes pretty good. I get speeds anywhere from 25 - 48K.. It's all unlimited (probably to some kind of fair usage policy). I've never had an issue.

I am with Aussie Broadband on the 100/40 plan with Unlimited Data. Personally I recommend them to everyone for exceptional customer service and quality of service unlike other providers.

  • TPG were great for us. They were the only provider that could connect us after NBNCo stuffed up our address and they resolved faults quickly once we were connected.

Superloop, go through WhistleOut website for 59.95 a month for first 6 months. We had previously been with ABB but couldn't afford the 79. Superloop have been just as good, if not better.

  • I'm with TPG 50/20 FTTN. I gave them notice as I was going to give Kogan a try. Their Customer Retention department called me and asked what I needed to stay.
    I wanted 6 month contract
    no setup fee
    Free modem
    $5 cheaper.

They could do the contract, router and setup with a $10 delivery fee on the router. I'd had an internet problem the week before and their customer service / tech support was excellent. I stayed with them as they'd made a fair attempt to keep my custom.

I'd ask ABB if they can do something for you on their 50/20 plan.

    • have you had any complaints with TPG, apart from the thing they solved last week?

      • Nope
And the issue I had was my fault, not theirs (which I knew when I called). The CSA spoke perfect english, the phone line quality was good and he stayed on the line until he was satisfied the issue was resolved.

When I had the NBN put on they were equally responsive

I don't think they are the best ISP but I'd rank them top 5 and reasonable prices.

I've been a customer at 2 addresses over a 12 year period. Was with Optus before them and a few others before that.

  • Was with ABB for a couple of months on their 100/40 plan. Found them to be flawless in terms of service but they were a bit pricy, 500GB wasn't enough and 100/40 was overkill.

Now with Belong (after a tortuous onboarding process). If you can get on to them, their $55 Starter plan represents excellent value as it offers unlimited 50/20… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/485365

  • Spintel over a yr already seems last time I looked prices are higher but still unlimited and next tier up. I have my own modem thou as their 1 was crap but they where very helpful with the setup etc.

  • For the same price

  • I was very happy with Telstra cable but I moved last week and had to transfer my service, which is now NBN FTTB. I had 100/5 Mbps on cable (upload was pretty bad but download was amazing, cost $80/month), now I am on 50/20 still on Telstra and paying the same $80/month… Upload is much better and I haven't had any issues, but I think it's too expensive for a 50/20 connection… Seriously thinking about moving to a 100/40 tier (Aussie Broadband or something else)… Unfortunately, some people say that the providers usually don't guarantee 100/40 (or anything close to that) on FTTB… Is that true? The way how Australia decided to build the NBN network and demand everyone to migrate from cable and other technologies to NBN is ridiculous…

BTW, I had TPG FTTB years ago, in Melbourne CBD, and it was perfect. Never had any problem, always getting amazing speed… I only left TPG because when I moved to a different place only TPG ADSL was available, and that was horrible! TPG FTTB is certainly an option for me now…
