Qantas points can be equivalent to as much as $15 per 1,000 points. At average sweet spot of $7 per 1,000 points this is still not a deal for me. Nice try qantas!

    • Unclaimed Points are costing them over 2 billion dollars of financial liability (around 13% of Qantas revenue)

Hmm, JbHifi gift card is working out $6.18 per 1,000 points. That's not too far from your average sweet spot.

At the end of the day, points are worth different amount to different people.

If you are wealthy and buy first class tickets, then points can be easily worth to you $50 per 1,000. On the other hand, if you never fly anywhere, you are looking at $5.50 per 1,000. I don't think there is a sweet spot to aim for, it really depends on your circumstances.

Depends on what you call average sweet spot. It's close to the average sweet spot for Qantas that's for sure.

The normal person in my opinion should have a sweet spot of the market place $11 per 1000 points making this deal garbage !

        • But where would you get such a good deal?
I’ve got a bunch of points that I don’t what to do with.

Qantas Store is the worst when it comes to resolving issues. Canned responses to brush you off. And the points are low in value for redeem nowadays, the only time they have high value is when QFF is selling for top up at $40 for 1000 points!
50% off then I may consider.

    • Where do you sell them for that price?!

      • That's what Qantas will sell at to you if you need to top up your account for a redemption that you're just short of.

      • Try classifies here, gumtree . Facebook market place .
        Ebay don’t permit sales.
Virgin Velocity pts seem to be a little scarcer and worth a little more nowadays .

  • What's the best way to spend your QFF points if you don't fly very much?

    • Selling on classified!

      • What's the process of paying/transferring? How do I make sure someone doesn't take my points and run, and how does the buyer make sure someone doesn't take their money and run?

        • Exactly, and when it does happen good luck explaining to police why they should help

          • Buy from a trusted seller or deal poster.

          • Ask for phone number and address

          • meet up with them to finalise transaction

          • @easternculture: Starting to sound very difficult and still no guarantees, sorry but I’ve seen the other side of this scenario
