  • Bummer, just booked via cashrewards a few hours ago.

  • Hmm. Well booked but not paid and fully able to cancel. So I would need to cancel the reservation. Book again through the tracking link and provide payment. Sounds a little risky in case my dates are filled while trying to rebook.

  • Just check the prices on booking.com first before booking via Cash Rewards, Shop Back, TransferWise, or any other referral program.

Booking.com are notorious for jacking up prices when using referral links.

    • If you’re booking hotels without checking that the site you’re using isn’t trying to screw you, then you’ve not exactly a smart shopper.

      • You'd be surprised at how many people think Booking.com always shows the same price regardless of how you got there.

  • Got my card in the post in just three (3) working days.

Wondering about using the TransferWise debit MasterCard for hedging Euros. I will spend the Euros in six months time by using the TransferWise debit MasterCard. Let me know if this idea is misguided please.

The A$ to EUR rate is up a bit in A$ favor at present. Expectations are circulating that the A$ will fall in 2020 to US$0.65 and Euro has begun rising against US$. A 10% upward retracement is within the realms of possible for EUR against US$.

    Today A$8,081.16 yields 5,000 Euros
    Detail:
    32.20 AUD debit card fee
    38.63 AUD TransferWise fee
    = 70.83 AUD Total fees
8,010.33 AUD Amount TransferWise will convert at 0.62419 Guaranteed rate for 48 hrs

So I am paying a fee of 0.88% to hold my A$ in Euros in my TransferWise account where I earn zero interest and do not have a bank guarantee. Please let me know if this idea is misguided.
