Great launcher, I've been using it for years on many handsets.

The ability to finely adjust just about every aspect of your homescreens and display settings is unmatched by any native launcher or any other 3rd party laincher IMHO.

  • +4

Nova launcher prime deal = auto +1

  • +3

One of the best android launcher
    been using it for years

Another alternative launcher is the Microsoft Launcher
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.…

    • Microsoft launcher is good if you use Outlook (y).

    • What does Nova have that Microsoft launcher doesnt?

      • Tons of icon packs.

  • +1

    +1 just do it.

  • Nova Prime $0.99
    Elders Weather $2.99

I need another app(s) $1.02 or more to get me up to $5 (for the Amex cashback of $3). Any must-have suggestions please?

    • +1

I use guru maps for off-line maps when travelling and gps tracking.

I also use one sync for onedrive as the ms client is trash ¬¬

      FK Kernel Manager
      EX Kernel Manager
      Textra
Tripview (if you are in Sydney or Melbourne)

      • +1

Tripview is awesome. Well worth it imho.

        • How is it any better than PTV app?

          • +2

            @WilhelmBargo: because i'm in NSW :-)

          • @WilhelmBargo: Interesting, I looked up PTV and got "2.1 stars from 778 reviews" and

Melbourne has stuffed up its app to track buses so badly that it is completely useless.

Meanwhile Tripview gets 4.8/5 from 148k reviews.
Although yeah you are paying $6 or so just for the ability to save trips.

          • @WilhelmBargo: Offline timetables

        • That’s the only app I purchased 😂

  • +5

Worth it just for its ability to remove the Google search bar, let alone it other features.

    • +1

      ^^ This

+1, purchased prime last deal, was using free version for cpl years beforehand..

      Awesome launcher…

    • +3

What crappy phone do you use where that's not possible?

      • +1

        Pixel maybe

      • Setup a Moto for a mate the other day, couldn't remove search bar without changing launcher..

        • +1

          That's pretty crappy of Motorola.

    • As does Poco Launcher….

    • +2

Pretty sure every launcher does that. Well, except google's shit launcher apparently.

  • The best launcher. Used for years on all my devices

  • +5

Microsoft launcher is free and awesome

    • +1

      And has the same features

    • +1

      Agree. My fav launcher.

    • -4

Microsoft is a data collector and advertising business. By installing it's launcher you lose money.

  • +4

If you're after a more Pixel experience, Lawnchair 2 is considered to be the best Nova alternative. From a dev side it's not relying on old redundant code either.

Being an Oxygen OS user I have no use for either. Still a good deal regardless.

    • +1

Moved to this a year or so back and it's great

    • +2

      Agree.

      After Samsung, Asus, Motorola phones
and their launchers, Oxygen OS has been the first launcher
      (or phone - OnePlus),
where I just thought everything was just fine.

No need to replace the launcher or the OS (well, it is still fine-tuned a little bit to my liking :-) ).

  • +1

Didn't need it but got it after reading all the positive comments!

    • +1

The free version of Nova is going to be enough for me, but here's my chance to throw a tiny bit of money to a great app developer.

  • 100% get this launcher. The customizability is endless.

  • Great customisability.

  • +1

Besides all the other praise by other posters for Nova, another reason to get it for this good price is the ability to create folders.

Folders on the home screen(s) AND folders in the app drawer. I'm surprised by how many launchers do not have this simple but useful feature. Folders allow you to organise your apps into groups. So you don't just have an endless scroll of apps in the app drawer.

    Other benefits:

    Stock-like feel.
Huge customisability beyond icon sets. eg. short cuts to specific app functions.
    Constantly kept up to date.
I love trying new launchers but always seem to come back to Nova.

  • +1

Had this launcher for a couple months, and paid full price just cuz its that good.
    Been great past few years!
    Great find!

  • +2

This is the one app I've always installed on all my phones right back to my very first smart phone. It's also the very first app I install. I think I paid full price for it but that's still a good price, you'd be nuts not to buy it at $0.99

  • Unpopular opinion: I like HTC Sense Home.
There's a useful "extreme power saving" mode (that is basically only messages/email/calendar etc) I haven't seen anywhere else.
Also in general, I just am a fan of the layouts and customisable floating app space. Auto Themes are nice too.

Does anyone know if there's a Nova alternative like it?

    • +1

Launchers don't control your power settings.

      • Hmmm that's a shame. Don't want to have to root just for that. May end up buying a HTC just for that purpose aha.

  • If you're on Android 10 you lose the new gesture navigation when using 3rd party launchers
Which means you also won't get the new assistant style when it's released.

Shame. I loved Action launcher. But can't do without the gesture navigation.

    • +1

Not sure about other phones, but Oxygen OS 10 (my OnePlus 7T) with a third party launcher, still works with the OS built-in gesture navigation.

Edit: I just installed Nova and got the warning about the above (however it still worked). Have used gesture navigation on a Pixel and it is slightly different to Oxygen, so there is obviously a difference to the stock Android one.

    • +1

Action Launcher just recently released a beta update that supports the Androind 10 gestures.

      https://www.xda-developers.com/latest-action-launcher-beta-a…

  • Now ya'll just have to get KLWP. Kustom apps and Nova Prime are the perfect pairing imo

  • Which of the prime/advanced features do you recommend?

  • This nova is not good enough. I reckon yandex is a better one.

  • I think its free now!I Just downloaded it without paying anything!

    • +1

      I'm guessing you've purchased it b4!

  • Currently has serious issues with Android 10 gestures / app switcher fyi, there's no certainty on whether or not Nova Launcher is going to be able to fix it either.

    • That's am Android 10 issue mate… All 3rd party launchers are in the same boat

  • +1

Undoubtedly the best launcher since day 1 till date. Period. I paid the full price when I bought Nova launcher years ago and it's still worth it.

  • might be a silly question but is it limited to the device or the user? i.e. more than one device?

    • If you are apart of a family plan you can share the purchase between all users of that's what you are asking

      • when i go to check out it has a drop down choice for the phone so i was wondering if its locked to one phone or if you can download on your phone now and maybe if you get a new one.

        • Oh the license status with your account. I moved from s8 to s10+ no issues. Imported my old settings without an issue

  • +1

Is this worth it for Samsung s10?

    • Samsung's One UI is better imo

      • Does same go for Samsung note 10?

      • +1

I heard the other way. Nova launcher is better in customing..

      • Lol no way. One UI sucks in comparison.

  • i got it so hopefully i will notice an improvement or at least look better. Thanks guys

  • Have always found the free version packed with features and enough for me, however will download to support developers

    • Haha…only for $0.99 though…not $5.99?

  • I did purchase Nova ~6 years ago and was very happy with it. However, I switched to iOS after a while. When I come back now to use my work-provided Android phone, there is one major issue that I can see. Samsung stock launcher has a better UI to segregate the personal and work profiles, however Nova has not caught up with it yet. I can see many posts in the community requesting Nova to add this feature, but they have not bothered according to the replies. Any one knows, if this is possible in Nova launcher?

  • The only issue I have with third party launchers is the customer widgets from manufacturers don't always work on them.

I have got nova prime and I do always like this over other third party launchers.

  • great launcher been installed for years now, never had issues

  • I also purchased it years ago. Its absolutely brilliant. It just about completely takes over from those awful bloated screens and junk that some manufacturers insist on putting on their phones. A really really great addition to your phone.

  • Had this for years. Can confirm it is awesome.

  • +1

Wow, I'm actually surprised people still use launchers. I would imagine less and less use them as stock ui in most phones is vastly improved.

I remember using go launcher ex. That was the goods.

How is nova launcher when it comes to resource utilisation? Do you notice more of a battery drain or no real difference?

    • It about 10% worse for me. So i switched back. I am using Accubattery to monitor the difference.
      On a Note 10 +

    • No real difference for me

  • bought prime but all icons are gone and panic. Refund and uninstall. Feel I am useless… sad…

    • Did you not backup???

      • When I start the app all icons are gone and too many things to do. I gave up.

        • Sounds like a common PEBKAC error but involving your phone.

  • I bought it! I've always used Nova and I really like it! Honestly, I was surprised that pretty much all of the functionality is available for free and that really only notification badges and folders in the app drawer are available in Prime.
