What Is The Best Way to Find Deals?

I wonder how people find deals so fast. I would like to know so I can help post and also find good deals for myself. Also how to make sure to get good deals before they go out of stock.

  • A post was created a few weeks ago about this. I can't find it. It was mentioned if deals were just searched for and posted or if you were actually looking for am item to purchase and found it cheap, then posted on here. You also have reps & 3rd parties advertising products.

    • I also mean like find deals other than the ones posted on ozbargain.

      • Try Price Hipster. It gives you a history of prices of the product, go from that.

        • Nah not that one. It was more about if ozbargainers actually search for products & post the deal, even though the poster wasn't purchasing the item. Or if we see a deal at the shops & post the deal, or it was reps just selling the products.

how to make sure to get good deals before they go out of stock

Get your order in, then post it on OzB.

Of course, it can be a bit more exciting doing it the other way around…

    • How to find before it gets on OzBargain though?

        Find a list of:

        • sites like OzB

        Scan (AU's & Int'l site of), eg:

        • eBay (Plus is optional)
        • Amazon [if u'r Prime]

        Get some exercise:

        • walk around shops, that discount "big" (find out when)

Negotiate (eg, read & skill-up fr the like of):

        • "You Can Negotiate Anything" (books + MOOCs)

        And… Never Forget:

        • You'll save the Most by NOT BUYING it at all ;~)

Sites like OzB can lead to -undue- "Excitement"
(I often wonder how many folks here:

        1. "cheer-lead" ie promote buying,
          . as if it's a good idea… &

        2. are employees, asked to use their
. less-busy hours to do so, on sim. sites?

(Buy too much => Need to Rent/Build more Space)

An always-CALM mind can also Save You $$

Last but Not least, you just may feel Happier
sharing some of your time [& past bargains]
with some other people… Try it!

        • Great post

Sales are very psychological. that's why aldi has special buys twice a week - it creates a time limit and a quantity limit which creates a sense of urgency and desire

    • Get your order in, then post it on OzB.

Put your own oxygen mask on first.

I also occasionally make sure my order SHIPS before I put it on here, depending on the circumstances.

Most of the deals I've posted I found on pricehipster.

  • I generally just post stuff I find as I shop, that seems like a bargain or has a discounted price. I think that's what most people do.

    How do I find them…

well a lot of the time just by chance - i go to buy something i need or want and it is on sale. I do nearly always shop around a bit using several methods depending on the item.

    google

Books I go to Booko.com and Bookfinder.com, and I also may check ebay, thriftbooks, and google.

When I find something on ebay or amazon, I check under the listing for any similar listings that may be cheaper. To do that on aliexpress, you add the item to your cart.

A trick i use all over the place is to google image search product images. right click on the image of the product and select 'search google for image' - you can do this in chrome, alternatively you can in any browser drag or right-click-save-and-upload the image to https://images.google.com.au/
Sometimes you will get a list of sellers of the item and you can find the cheapest that way.

And then there are the sales. it is sale season right now so i am frequently checking my favourites. stores repeat themselves and you get to know their patterns but they also change a little each year - like the exact day they start the boxing day sales. a lot of stores start them online before then now on christmas eve or even earlier.

    • also create accounts at stores your interested in and add things to your wishlist in the days and weeks before a sale - then when the sale starts its easy to scroll through your wishlist, see what is on sale, add it to your cart, and check out, before other people find them.
