the price i paid for pre order was $299 from Samsung ANZ store. great price for a great watch, only gripe is the heart rate monitor keeps trying to record even when watch is away from wrist.

    • +1

You should be able to turn that setting off I have mine turned off when not wearing it on my gear sport .
Can’t remember where the setting is now though .

Apps on the OS (Tizen) are a major disappointment. Developers never really supported it unfortunately.

Nice looking watch though, I still wear my Gear S2 every now and then.

    • So what exactly is the difference between android OS and Tizen?

      • Android Wear or WearOS is maintained by Google, Tizen is maintained by Samsung. Google seems to put absolutely no effort in with so many oversights. I overall like the UI and there's lots of apps, but there's so many small issues that I have all over the place. Disconnection issues despite having Android 10 and a pixel, missing media controls randomly, disconnects for days at a time, general lag (although if you get a watch with 1GB ram it's meant to be better)…

I've only used Tizen on friend's watches, but overall there seems to be less complaints over there.

        • +1

there are still lags on my S2.

    • i wear the S2 also, but the dial is hard to turn unless my finger is wet. There's no grip on that ring, so your finger slips.

I bought an Active for $299 a few days ago as a replacement. Without the dial it should never have that problem.

  • Can you answer phone calls from this?

is there a way to take low resolution pic?

  • Just waiting for the 46mm to go to the same price

    • +2

You waited a bit too long… Both the 42mm and 46mm were $298 at JB-HIFI a few days ago

  • Any info on what the regular price for these is?

Edit: Never mind, saw the Camelcamelcamel link. So this was the same price around black friday but was $335 in between

  • -3

Much as I hate to support them, HN is the only one with the rose gold, if that's what floats your boat. Amazon only has the black and neither have silver.

  • 46mm should soon be the same price, bigger battery for up to 7 weeks without having a lot of rubbish running. Is better option over the 42mm
I don't understand this hate against the Tizen OS. It is the same SO used in the QLED TV which I have the 2018 65" model.

The system is damn fast, there is no delays at all. I take more time to blink then turning my TV on.
It might don't have thousands apps like Android but it does an amazing performance job. Which by the way Android TVs have delays issues, the same will be applied to watches since the processor is not strong enough to run the system smoothy as it does with mobiles.

Users complaining about Tizen doesn't have thousands apps, Are you buying a watch or a goddamn tablet?
Then guess what, install a sh1t ton of apps and start screaming all over the internet this product is rubbish, the battery doesn't last but don't tell all the unnecessary things installed. Smart TVs, smart watches are designed to make things easier rather than substitute.

It already was… $298 at JB a few days ago

  • Looking for a deal on the 4G version.

    • +2

I really see no reason to buy the 4G model. More expensive and require a plan

WIFI version does everything the 4G does.
The main different is that with the 4G you don't need to carry your mobile.

WIFI version you need your mobile close by so it can make/receive calls OR have previously shared the wifi passwords using the watch app so it uses the wireless connections to work like 4G. 4G will have more battery consumption as well.

It's not for me. Wife wants it for when she jogs or hours on long walks without a phone.

        • +4

Got ya, we cannot go against our boss this case hahahaha

          • +3

@ratoloko: Exactly. Logic is not required, obedience is.

            • +1

@FabMan: AFAIK only Optus, Voda & Telstra Postpaid support eSIM in order to use the 4G capability. This would exclude resellers of said networks eg. Amaysim, Kogan, Boost.

  • This or Active 2?

    • thanks, fixed the description.

  • hows th ebattery life of this one? also, does it support google pay? thinking to use myki?

    • +1

No Google Pay unfortunately so no good for Myki. But does have Samsung pay.

      • Even if it had Google pay it wouldn't support Myki. I thought Myki does not support any smartwatch?

        • Not sure TBH, but if a watch has Google pay I wouldn't see why it wouldn't?

          • @olliestyles: I thought myki should be supported by any smart watch that supports google pay

            • @JohnyEnglish:

I have a wearable with Google Pay – can I use Mobile myki?
No. The version of Google PayTM used by wearables, such as watches, is a light version which doesn't support Mobile myki.

  • NO google pay? How about Active2?

  • Price is also matched at JB Hi-Fi

  • If this price remains till boxing day best to combine with shopback offer from This deal

  • How much is this watch normally?

JB website lists only a $50 discount?
