  • Hmmm how does this camera compare to the $800(canon 1100) one offer on another deal?

I Mean in terms of best bang for buck for. Beginner dslr user to move forward? Is the $100 worth it to get the canon 1100 or would this 1000d be worth it. I am thinking this becuase, if this deal is enough for a beginner, then the spare $100 could be put towards a carry bag or tripod

    • +4

      I wouldn't get either, and I'd rather spend $800 on a Grey market 550D or 600D.

      • or twin lens D3100 is also an awesome deal for roughly the same price.

  • Is this one considerably better than Sony A390?

  • how does this compare to the nikon D3100 twin lens kit for $777?

    • D3100 craps all over the 1000D in every way, 1000D cant even do video at all.
D3100 has Full HD Recording with Live Autofocus (Many DSLRs cant autofocus during video, not even my D90 :( )
ISO Range of 100 - 12800, 1000D can only go up to 1600 which is terrible.
      Bigger LCD than the 1000D
14.2 MP instead of 10.1 MP of the 1000D
11 focal points against 7 focal points on the 1000D
Spot Light Metering which canon doesnt have
      etc, etc.

Nevertheless, 1000D has been replaced by the 1100D, the 3100 is a current model.

  • wouldn't go the older model… found it around this time last year for $743 @Joyce Mayne Warrawong

Better off sticking with Sony for the Entry Models and Nikon for the Semi-Pro(D300s) and Pro ones

  • :o thanks, so at this price range of 700-800 nikon d3100 is the one to look out for, and only get canon if I am going grey imports
