Camelcamel says it was $569 on December 2 but I can't find any mention of it here at Ozbargain, which is odd. Did $569 really happen?

  • Ordered one yesterday … but cancelled that and re-ordered. Thanks!

  • I think I payed about this much by using discounted Ebay gift cards.

  • Must resist!

  • Ordered the 128GB one for $719 yesterday with $50 cashback. Not sure if I should cancel that one and go with this one?

    • Stick with 128gb, better deal. You only get like $18 cashback on this.

Can anyone recommend an Oculus Link cable with fast delivery in Australia?

    • I have an active anker one that works well with Asgard’s wrath but I’d just get the official one from oculus as I think the fibre optic will be better. Ordered one last week (22nd) and waiting on delivery, it’s in Sydney already so shouldn’t be long.

    • My order just arrived, and comes with a very long USB-C to USB-C cable in the package. Not sure if it is the Oculus Link Headset Cable. I don't have a powerful PC to test it.

Update: It seems just a USB 2.0 charging cable, not USB 3.0.

** The charging cable that came with your Quest won't work with the Oculus link software. The Quest charging cable is USB 2 while Oculus Link requires a USB 3 cable that can support both power and data. **

    Just bought one.
Any recommendations on a better head strap?
I've read that HTC Vive deluxe audio strap is a great candidate, but it's expensive and seems to be out of stock everywhere in Australia.

Wait until you use it before worrying about the strap.

I'd read all the stories too about comfort with the default strap but I haven't had a problem. Make sure you get the back strap low on the back of your head and then tighten the top strap

Fantastic device though. Being completely untethered is great.

      • Thanks for the tip :)

  • Can this be used with a PS4 Pro?

    • +1

No it can’t. It is a stand alone device that was recently made compatible with PC VR via an update (cable required)

      • what do they charge for the cable?

        • There is an official oculus one that is I believe fiber optic if I remember correctly but it is not available yet. A high quality USB C cable should do the job but look online for recommendations as people have found many USB C cables don’t cut it.

Ain't getting cheaper than that anytime soon, that's for sure

  • Can recommend, I bought mine full price on release. I do find it a bit uncomfortable but counterweight and or extra strap across the top of your head can help a lot. Heaps of information in the reddit, enjoy :)

  • so the games are actually installed on the 64gb storage? i mean one game on consoles can easily reach 50gb.

    • These aren't console games and average about 1gb.

It's a mobile system running on a Snapdragon 835 so don't expect PC or console graphics.

It's fantastic though. The immersion and freedom you get from being completely untethered is great.

You can always hook it up to a VR capable PC via Oculus Link if you want to experience beefier games.

  • My Amazon order arrived today and played up tonight. Very impressed comparing with my old Samsung Gear VR. Also it DOES comes with the bonus STAR WAR games, which is quite interesting. Just after setting up everything and the bonus games will showing up in the menu to ready to install.

The only complain is it seems too much pressure on face.

  • Mine just arrived too, pretty happy that the Vadar Immortal series was included. Was a little disappointed that the Christmas bundles expired, but apparently there should be some themed bundles appearing tonight, so I'll wait for those before buying any games.
