They aren't open for calls right now, do we know when this expires?

    • Expires 29 December 12am

  • +5

This is a starter kit only, not recharge.

    • Are there ever any specials on recharges?

      • +1

The Coles sales are a recharge with a bonus Sim

  • I like this deal 👍 however OOS now ….

  • +3

$125@Southern Telecom (Southern Cross Station) if you are in Melbourne.

    • Do they always sell for 125?

      • +1

Yes, its normal price over there.

  • Seens already out of stock??

    • Hello. Its back in stock

  • +1

Does Officeworks accept payment via Coles gift card?

    • No

    • -1

Yes for sure, bought a boost sim yday with a Coles gift card from Amex deal

      • What's Amex deal for Coles gift card?

  • +2

Its amazing how these things sell out instantly… its like there an unending demand for $135 1yr 80gb plans…. also amazing how no one else can seem to compete…

    • +2

There was an unlimited supply of $2 Boost SIMs, and buying from Coles for $135 this deal here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/505962

This was great value for both new customers (who need a SIM) and existing customers (using a voucher recharge - can be stored until mid 2021)

    • +4

It’s pretty much what everyone has been asking for for the last 10 years. Fair price, enough data if used wisely and all u can eat talk and text with the bonus of international calls… all on the best network.

      • That hasnt been my experience with Coles. The first time I went to about 3 coles in westfields in my area and couldnt find one.

The 2nd time I got the last $2 sim.

They sell out on my experience alone!

I did grab a 2nd one online which is good as they have 2021 expiry? I seriously dont think they will be beat even by this time next year.

        • +2

I think this reply was to me?

You can buy a $2 SIM literally anywhere, if not at Coles, you can always find them at convenience stores all across the city (I can definitely say so for Sydney at least).

The recharge is a voucher on a receipt, so they can literally never run out of them. They just print at the tobacco terminal and off you go!

          • @Doggiie: You can also print them out at the self serve checkouts (or the staffed checkouts). The thing with the SIMs is one was included for free when I got mine at Coles with the recharge when a $135 sale was on which is better than paying $2 for one from somewhere else. Of course, the starter pack in this deal incudes the SIM.

  • There's the 240GB for $240 (RRP $300) currently on sale from boost directly (ends 6 Jan 20) https://boost.com.au/shop/300-prepaid.

    • FYI "NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY. HURRY ENDS 6.01.20"

      Bummer! Thanks though :)

  • For future reference, how are people pricing matching this with OW? None of the three stores in my immediate vicinity have had stock for ages?

    • +1

They can price match on phone and deliver it to you instead of directing you to store

  • OW won’t price match as it’s out of stock now with cellmate

  • +1

Does data rollover to the next 12 months?

    • Not on this 365 day plan only on monthly boost plans

    • If you haven't used 80GB in the previous 12 months, it seems unlikely you'll need more in the next 12.

  • I'm moving from Optus post paid 36/month to this one. I just hope they can keep the quality with so many people using their services (Telstra network shouldn't be a problem but I don't know what are the terms of the agreement between Telstra and Boost).

    • +1

They use the full Telstra 4G network (no 5G plans yet). You'll find that some of the SMS messages about your service come directly from Telstra. AFL, AFLW, NRL, Soccer and Netball apps all treat you as a Telstra customer as far as the Live Pass subscription goes. It is virtually indistinguishable from being a Telstra subscriber.

  • I hope it comes back into stock soon

    • Hello. Its back in stock

    • Hello!

We have dropped the price of the Boost $150 Starter kit to $129.99 for a limited time and with limited quantity.

      Kind Regards
      CELLMATE

  • I'm sure this question gets asked all the time, but why do you have to keep purchasing a sim each year your plan runs out? Is there a reason it's not just a voucher for the sim you currently have?

    • You should be able to buy that voucher from the coles checkout when this deal happens again and apply it with your boost app

    • This deal happens to be for a prepaid SIM. It can't be used as a recharge. As stated above, you can always buy a recharge voucher, but it might not be as cheap even when it is on sale at Coles ($135 vs $133/$126).

  • +7

For all those still looking for this deal you can do an Officeworks PB guarantee with xtremeonline https://xtremeonline.com.au/150-pre-paid-sim-kit-33636.html offer of $130

With PB It will end up costing $123.50

    • A bit confused about this one, as it says

Includes $150 recharge on your chosen Pre-Paid plan
Use this SIM to get started, then recharge any amount when you activate

Wonder if this is just a recharge or not? The two points seem to contradict each other a bit

    • Thank you. Got OW to to price match at $123.50.

  • ThNks op just Price matches with OW got it for $123.50

  • Can you buy 2 with price match at OWs?

    • +1

I bought two this afternoon from OW

      • Thanks 👍🏻

Here’s some useful tips for anyone considering porting into Boost from a non-Telstra provider:

Boost’s Critical Information Summary at https://boost.com.au/CIS_25022019.pdf says
“If you purchase a Boost Prepaid SIM you’ll need to have an 850MHz compatible handset for 3G access and LTE band 3 (1800MHz) and band 28 (700MHz) for 4G access.”
    Picture here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eot5b7ipyr2tp2q/Boost-network-band…
Telstra also says at https://www.telstra.com.au/coverage-networks/check-imei that to use their service on 4G, your hardware needs to have “1800MHz AND 4G 700MHz banding”. I’ve since learned that this is only a half-truth. Having both bands on your hardware is advantageous but not actually required. It’s only necessary that your mobile phone can use one of these bands - and that Telstra provides service in your location on that particular band. The catch is that Telstra doesn’t disclose any information about which bands are covered in their network coverage map at https://www.telstra.com.au/coverage-networks/our-coverage and Boost doesn’t either at https://boost.com.au/coverage-map/. The coverage of any one band can be unreliable, so to mandate that your hardware services both bands is the simplest way for them to ensure you get 4G where they advertise 4G, but technically, having mobile hardware which services both bands is not actually required. Of course, it’s advantageous if your handset services both bands as they can both be used simultaneously to provide you greater speeds (carrier aggregation).

It’s worth mentioning that ALDImobile’s network coverage map at https://www.aldimobile.com.au/coverage/ does have some info on different bands, but does not show the full story either. It shows that my neighbourhood in the Perth metro area is covered by the 700 MHz band 28 and not the 1800 MHz band 3, which was a concern to me as I have an old iPhone 5S which requires the 1800 MHz band 3 and does not have the 700 MHz band 28. In fact, Telstra provides great service on the 1800 MHz band 3 in my neighbourhood, which I only discovered through making personal enquiries and then having a go at porting (despite their advice that I needed hardware with both “LTE band 3 (1800MHz) and band 28 (700MHz) for 4G access.”)

    Speed tests inside my house:
Before port: 3.48 Mbps (LTE OPTUS)
After port: 26.4 Mbps (LTE Telstra)

So, long story short, my iPhone 5S is working great on Telstra without 700 MHz band 28, and I’m very happy to have ported to Telstra, not just because of the improved speed in my area, but I’m happy with a 365 day prepaid deal that I can splurge on data usage one month and not have the hassles of monthly data caps and the resulting need for data top ups or the need to go on a higher plan paying for much more data than I really need just to allow for the higher usage months.

  • Will Officeworks price match with Xtremeonline?

    • +1

      What about online stores?
Our Price Beat Guarantee includes products you find online - as long as the item is identical and in stock. When assessing the PBG from online stores we also take into account the added cost of delivery to your location (if any). If the identical, in stock product can be purchased and delivered to your location via an online store for a total price lower than the one we are offering, we will beat that total price by 5%.

Looks like they should, no harm giving them a call and trying anyhow.

I plan to give them a call soon and give it a go, I'll let you know how it goes.

      • +1

Thanks I'm going to give them a call when my kids are having lunch!

        • +1

          Sounds good!

Whoever calls first can report in, I'm at work so need to wait for my lunch break.

        • +1

Called up and price beat the xtremeonline price, no dramas 👌

Just a heads up, I ordered wanted to order 5 and they said the max is usually 2, but they let me have 3 of them.

          • +1

@mangobango: Great thanks I haven't had chance to call yet!

Just a few questions can you port your number from Optus?

How do you pay just give your credit card number?

            What price did you get?

            Cheers, Dave

            • +1

              @beebul:

              1. Don't see why you couldn't port your number from Optus, it'd just be the same as any other port when you sign up.

              2. Yep, they get you to punch in the card number via the keypad on the phone securely.

              3. Came to $123.50 per sim card, so pretty nice saving overall.

Also it's delivered super quick to metro areas, they said it'll arrive tommorrow.

  • Hi Cellmate, ordered on 28/12/2019 last Saturday. Only received the initial processing email but haven’t heard anything since. Emailed [email protected] two days again but haven’t got a response to that yet. Order number 19491 - can you follow this up please?
