And another game I already have since 3 years and second game is a joke… I am glad I did not purchase another PS+ year this time (even on discount)… So disappointed since they stopped free ps3 and ps vita games (also available on ps4).
Also where are free psvr games every 3 months? Gone…

    • It is really a joke i wouldn't have renewed if was not playing fortnite.

      • +4

uhh you dont need playstation plus to play fortnite

you dont need plus to play any free game

    • +33

You answered your own question: It's your opinion.

    • -1

      This opinion is quite new.

    • +5

      Whatever floats your goat.

    • Every month without fail someone says this.

  • +8

I basically bought a PS4 just for the Nathan Drake Collection.

    • +6

I loved this series, may of even shed a tear at the end of uncharted 4…. Sniff

      • +3

I loved Uncharted 4. Best one in the series in my opinion.

        • +1

I liked it but found it the least enjoyable. I tell you, if I heard the words "pirate treasure" just one more time there would have been…trouble.

          • @g452: Likewise.. I was disappointed with 4. Loved the first 3!
Its length is what damaged its potential. Too much filler. sliding down the mud cliffs for example.

  • +31

I came here for the entitled gamer replies and I was not disappointed.

  • +12

Uncharted drake collection is a must playthrough if you haven't already.

    • +1

100% agree, man named after two of my favourite game series

    • +2

      No no no no no!

      • Oh crap

  • +1

Are they are gonna put out the whole PS4 hits collection this way. Just an observation. Doesn't make spoiled to hope for one I haven't played because there are some I haven't played and odds suggest one month they will release one of them (Uncharted is cool, but I can hope for Yakuza 0 or Persona 5 much the way I hoped for Nioh).

    • +2

I doubt you will get P5 any time soon. They never gave away P4G for the Vita even though it released 2012.

    • +5

Wouldn't make sense to put Persona 5. Would just cannibalize sales of the upcoming Persona 5 Royal (an extended directors cut, of sorts)

    • +3

Incorrect. PlayStation Plus is a subscription service that allows access to online gameplay. These free games are just an added benefit. Xbox Game Pass on the other hand is a subscription you pay for that gives you access to a game library.

        • +14

I think you got downvotes for saying champ. It's the equivalent of saying the 4 letter c word in Australia.

        • Report this post to the mods and they will move it to the forums if legit.

        • This isn't the same as Netflix at all.

You subscribe to Netflix and you get access to their entire catalogue at that time. PlayStation Plus is access to play online with the ability to add these two games to your account. You do not get access to all those games of the past unless you were subscribed at the time and specifically added those games to your account.

What this means is, people will subscribe for this month only to get those two games if they think it is worth it. I'm not defending the post, just highlighting this is different. XBox Game Pass is like Netflix, XBox Live Gold and PSPlus are not similar to those services.

        • -2

Netflix offers free movies to keep forever? That's incredible!!!! I will download all of the movies and series to that I can watch them anytime, even if I cancel Netflix, or if Netflix takes the content off their system. Thanks for the tip champ!

          • +1

@onlinepred: You don’t get to keep your PS+ games forever either, you have to keep subscribing to retain access to the games; same as Netflix.

            • +1

@mr_me450: I was trying to emphasize that when netflix takes the content off netflix, you can't access it anymore. I can cancel PS+, then sign back up and I have access to all the games again.

              • @onlinepred: Same with PS they can remove the game from the store and even if you signed back up to PS+ you'd lose access to that game…

      • -1

Still not a bargain, the actual Playstation Plus isn't on sale which would be a deal not this.

    • Never heard this take before.

  • +1

    What the goat!!!

  • Goat simulator is a lot of fun! Pretty excited to play on ps4 as I only have it in pc. Not sure ce to have uncharted collection as well. Might go and okay these classics again!

    • +6

      • +1

Reading my comment back it really does look like I did! hahaha.

  • +2

I just played through the trilogy very recently. They hold up well. Better than I remembered them. Also played through U4 and ULL and they are still good also.

I wonder though.. I have the game installed off disc. After I claim it to my account will I be able to continue to play and they will stop asking for the disc or will I have to uninstall and download the PSN version?

Not that I plan to play the games again.

Just want to throw in that the boat level is the best level in the series.

    • A download of the digital version will be needed. The save games will work (assuming your PS Plus is AUS subscription) so don't delete the save games. It might seem odd, but that's how Sony does it to achieve: you don't need to connect to the network to play the disc version promise. For digital version, you do need to connect to the Internet so it can validate you have that digital version.

Microsoft does it differently. It seems to check whether you have the digital license first and use that (otherwise fallback to disc check if you don't). The way Microsoft does it is better in this case because you don't need to install the game again.

      • so digital games can't be played offline even if it's a singleplayer game?

        • You can. I just recall that when I bought Shadow of Colossus digital edition, I had to download the digital version.
Thing is, all the installed disc version of the games have the disc icon (if you go to the Library) so even if you later acquired the digital version, the disc icon doesn't disappear.

  • Goat Sim sounds like an indie.

Uncharted - had uncharted 2 before gave me motion sickness not sure if any good

It's a bargain for those whom got $49 PSN Plus sub

    • +2

It was a pun by Sony when they offered both games the same month.

      Uncharted = Goat.

  • +8

I'm starting to really regret buying PS+ for a couple of years in advance just so I wouldn't lose access. Feels like each month is a disappointment vs what Xbox Live and Xbox Game Pass offer. I'm aware they cost a bit more and have a different business model but each month something exciting comes out on Xbox to look forward to, even having old Tekken 6 is awesome, but I find nothing to inspire me on PS+.

    • +4

I play online, I also have a steam library that I will never play, so really for me this is money better spent. Sometimes they are games I will never play, or some are games I wouldn't have tried if not they were given to me.

    • +5

You're right and the reason is because MS did not put up much of a fight this gen. The initial pre-launch hubris doomed them.

In gen 7, MS put up a very good fight and Sony was chasing (they too had to recover from pre-launch hubris). That meant free online, and your $50 USD sub got you more than 2 games (eventually 6) and they were often good games. Now you get 2 games, and most months they are just indies. The price has been raised to $60 USD, and online is no longer free. This is what complacency from lack of competition produces.

MS are the ones offering outstanding value. Backwards compat dating back to original Xbox and a $10 game pass sub that means you never have to buy a first party game again. This is what you have to do when you're behind.

In an ideal world, gen 9 will be neck and neck and both sides will offer the maximum.

  • +2

Ugh! Glad I haven't renewed my PS+ subscription I don't see the value in it

  • +2

    So 4 games for Free…thats a bargain

  • +4

The only reason I am not happy is because I have these games, if I didn't, then this would be awesome. The issue here is that it's not that much value, and using games that are already widely purchased and platinum status is disappointing. You would think that you would start the year off with a bang? Considering how amazing Epic free games have been.

    • +7

You would think that you would start the year off with a bang?

Sony can't win here. The same complaint gets made every month.

Sony releases some obscure indie game and people get angry and go 'where are the AAA titles?'. Sony releases its best exclusives that are considered 'must plays' and people who've already played it will feel ripped off. Long term PS+ subscribers will probably get disappointed easier as they'll more lilely have played/owned all the 'big' titles. For new owners this is awesome.

Considering how amazing Epic free games have been.

I see your point but they are a new service desperately trying to increase their user base. They've started with nothing so they are using these free releases to catch up to Steam in terms of user numbers.

Not having a go at you, but just an observation of the discussion in recent months. Personally I'm happy, I played the Uncharted games on PS3 so it might be nice to re-play the remastered version on PS4 for free.

      • The issue I see is that they have been releasing a lot of 'triple-A' titles that have been around for years. Its not the fact that they arent great games because every month they always release at least 1 great title but lets face it most of the games they release people have already owned for 1-2 years already. They really need to find the sweet spot between not too-popular that everyone owns it already and not too old where everyone owns it already lol

I'm not usually one to complain but even I have let my PSN subscription expire now, the first time in 13 years! It just seems its a waste of money otherwise; unless you're really into online gaming.

    • +2

Never buy games until you finish the one on hand….its hard to do so. I ahve many titles bought still shrink wrapped

Exciting of purchasing is more than playing due to lack fo time

      • I know the feeling man!

      • I agree with the exception that if it's a game I really like and around $10 then I will.

  • +1

Good games but like most of us, already have all the Uncharted games. For those who don’t have it, this is a great ‘free’ game.

  • +2

Was going to buy the PS Plus deal today but this is a put off. I have those games, multiple copies even. Hopefully future monthes PS plus will be worth while

    • +2

You could always buy it but not activate it until you want it - but then I did that and ended up with a few years worth of subscription!

  • -2

Yeh i don't think this subscription is good value this month. Nintendos is way better value for $20.

    • +1

Like I said, vast majority of PS Plus users buy it purely to access online multiplayer. 2 free games are a welcomed bonus to compete with xbox games with gold.

You're looking at it like people pay for the subscription service just to get games monthly which is not the case.

      • -2

But you know in advance you'll be getting 2 x games. And thank god you do, coz $80 bucks a year just to play online is a rip off. They know how to market it though. So many Sony Ponies here think of the games as free with their subscription.

      • +3

Not me, I bought for the free games. I don't play multiplayer. I only did on Ps3, since PS4 multiplayer requires a sub I have been against it ever since.

If its free before why make it payable?

  • +2

Hi, yet another PS+ hater here, but I won't bother with that right now.

What I will say, is considering how cheap they've gotten, I'm amazed they didn't put Uncharted 1, 2, and 3, across 3 separate months as 3 separate games.

  • +1

this is why its worth paying the cheapest for PS Plus via different region

  • +1

Never wanted to outright own the goat game so this is the perfect excuse to play it. Already own Uncharted.

  • +5

I'm still struggling to see the bargain here.

Don't people sign up to PSP, in full knowledge that they'll be getting 2 free games per month as part of the subscription?

    • +1

You don't just get it automatically with your sub though. You actively have to 'purchase' the games whilst they are free. If you don't, you miss out.

      • You aren't purchasing them though. It's just a rental service.

        • Yeah I found this out the hard way when I signed up for the 1 month free PSP, then it expired and suddenly I couldn't play the free games anymore.
I still have to re-buy the game if my PSP subscription runs out.

Don't know why you're being negged when this is the truth. PS fanboys

    • +2

Nope, I've never downloaded the free games, just pay so I can play multilayer with friends.

    • Yes exactly

  • +1

    Mixed feeling on this one.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is amazing but surely anyone who would have wanted to play these titles by now would have done so.

    Goat sim….well…..i guess LOL

Would be nice if someone at PS would do a little research and find those hidden gems, those underrated titles have are amazing but dont get the the attention they deserve. Or those titles that have unfortunate launch windows that get buried but other AAA+ titles.

I will prob play them again in 4k anyways :-P

  • -5

This IS a bargain. Let me tell you a story…You subscribe for online only, then 2 days later, you get a knock at the door and it's the head of PS, Mr Playstation himself! You're in shock, obviously, but then Mr P says "I've got some signed games for you here. Thanks for subscribing to PS+". He hands them to you…then…all of a sudden with a loud crack like lightning, Mr P jumps into the air and flys off! (probably to his next customer). This is a bargain of the century.

    • +3

No need to be sarcastic. I get why people think these shouldn't be counted as bargains. However, the mods have allowed these posts for at least 1 year already (both XBox Live Gold and PS Plus). Multiple people have reported this to the mods and the mods once again allowed it.

Some people just like to be reminded to "purchase" these each month. There are also some people who do not actually have active PS Plus and they may decide to join short term if the PS Plus games happened to be ones they like.

The main issue with this month's free games is that too many people already have and played UC: ND collection.

    • -3

Sounds like you don't understand how PS+ works at all. For one, no one comes to your house and hands you a game. What you get is a digital copy, which you can get by going into the online store. There's a page that shows you what games are available to you each month and then you click to buy them. But you don't actually pay for them if you're a PS+ member. The price is shown as $0.00, so you get them for nothing. It's a real bargain. The rest of your story about the flying man and stuff is wrong, but the bargain part is right on the money.

      • Well, except for when you cancel your subscription and all the "$0.00" games disappear.

  • +2

Everyone knows ps plus is a sham. It's basically a fee to use their multiplayer servers as the games suck. That being said, the games have gotten better since the days of just indies.

    • +1

PS3 had a good list then it went downhill when PS4 came around, it was until end of 2018 then got picked up wiht better games. That's because it needs sometime for good titles released and dated before giving out for free

  • +1

Can you please repost this when it becomes free?

    • You can use the reminder function, set a reminder for 8th of Jan so you don't get it before it's available.

      • -2

Hey, hamza, you got to be a moderator after all this time? Congrats on the promotion, happy 2020 to you and hopefully this won't slow your roll on getting me cheap Domino's.

        • I've been a moderator for 5 years, but thank you and Happy New Year :)

          • @hamza23: Maybe I just never saw you in the comments, only the posts, or maybe I somehow am blind, either way, first time seeing the badge, gotta love a man in uniform ;)

  • -1

    Where is the bargain?

    • Two free games, refer to OP.

Vast majority of PS Plus subscribers buy it for online multiplayer access. These free games are an added bonus.

      • +5

You pay for it. Its not free.

        • +1

They use the word 'free' because it's a simple word. What word would you replace it with?

          • -5

            @lostn: Digital catalogue rental service.

            • @infinite: That's a bit long to replace one word. It doesn't roll off the tongue.

People know what they're getting when it's labeled as 'free' even if strictly speaking it isn't free.

The service has been around for a long time and is well known. No one is being misled here.

        • Technically, you can have them free for 14 days. I did try it for 14 days initially. Then, waited for a few months until they offered some games I like. Because with PS, there is no GamePass equivalent so I did buy PS Plus for a while later on.

For XB GamePass, happy to let it elapsed (since I don't really have time to play games every month) and pick up when it is $1 / month.

      • -1

        They're not (profanity) free!
They're not a (profanity) bonus when they are not just why a large amount of people use the service, but they were at one point the ENTIRETY of the service.

God damn. I'm not saying we need people to be yelling and negging every single month but to say these games are free, when they have never been, is honestly worse.

        • -1

theres two types of people in this world. glass half empty and glass half full. These posts certainly brings out the glass half empty users.

          • +1

@brandogs: When they wanna keep upping the price, lowering the quality of games, lowering the quantity of games, lock stuff that used to be free (multiplayer) behind a paywall, lock stuff that's free elsewhere (cloud saves on Xbox) behind a paywall,

Well yeah, I'm not exactly gonna wanna suck Kaz Hirai's dick over it, no.
