  • Can a temperature range be set, rather than a specific temperature? My chiller's thermostat isn't working too well and constantly turns on and off all day while it's hot. I'm hoping to get a device like this that will drop the temperature to the bottom of the range and then only start chilling once it hits the top of the range.

    Hope that makes sense.

    • Id expect so. I use mine to stop heaters going rogue. Ive been burnt one to many times.

I'm not associated with InkBird. Promise! Just a happy customer

I purchased the Wifi version on Christmas Day. First: the delivery time and the build quality are great. I can't recommend the device enough. It was delivered on New Year's Eve. My only regret is that I missed the OzBargain discount on the Wifi device before Christmas. Oh well. Quality is great so I'm not going to actually complain.

So to your question: I have my cheese fridge set to 10° with a 4° "Cooling Difference". This means it doesn't turn the fridge back on until it reaches 14°, then it stays on until it's down to 10°. I don't use the heating side of the device, but there's also a setting for the "Heating Difference" that does the same, but won't turn on the heater until it's that many degrees below the target temperature.

If you're using it to control a device with a compressor, you don't want that turning on and off all the time. So there's also a "refrigeration delay" that means it won't turn the compressor back on unless it's been off for that amount of time.

Additionally, the device has an audible warning alarm that you can set the high and low temperatures for. So if someone unplugs the frige from the device, or the fridge dies, it sounds an alarm. I have this set to 20° on the high side and 4° on the low side.

Now the one in this deal is not the Wifi version, but I think it's worth the extra to get it. The phone app is surprisingly well built. Not only can I see the status and configure every setting from the phone (far easier than the device itself) but I can also see a graph of the temperature over time. PLUS it has the ability to set up all sort of automations based on everything from the device status to the local weather!

  • hi,it is to control temp range you want. This controller could turn on/off heater or cooler automatically when temp reaches setting temp.
It could not start to heat/cool at the bottom/top range.

thanks for posting; great price point. quick question: how easy is it to calibrate this controller?

    • Hi,just calibrate on the app.
the correct temp is equal to faulse temp +corrected value

      • Hi,just calibrate on the app.

you mean in the controller? this is non WiFi version right, hence no app?

        • +1

It's not wifi version, no app

LoL, was searching for inkbird controller just now, and saw your post at the same time. But i am after the one with wifi, would be great if you could give us a decent discount on that one too.

      • i think this is not for aquarium as the probe will rust; unless it is what you after, HenryGalilei

        • we don't have aquarium controller including heating and cooling function with wifi

  • Any deal on the model with time function?

    • Hi,which specific product do you mean ?

  • What about 25% off the model with the standard ntc temperature probe …

  • so all this thing does is turn on/off other devices to do the "temperature control" ?

the way it reads is that this unit will actually do the controlling ..

    • Yes
