just received an ad on instagram about this new telco company called numobile. They recommission used phones, interest free over a fixed term ie. 24 months (2 years). On their website you can see that they are charging $984 for a used iPhone X 64GB, or, $41 per month just for the device excluding the mobile plan.

$999 for a iPhone XS thats one generation newer and BRAND NEW is a bloody good deal compared to that

    • +9

Compared to that, yes. But that deal stinks. Reconditioned iphone x’s should be around $700. Eg, first site I looked at is boost mobile and they have them for $737

      • Yeh never use other terrible deals as a baseline, these false yardsticks are great at tricking people to jump on a "deal". This price for XS is forced by the competitive 11 release price, JB are compelled otherwise nobody would buy this over the iphone 11 for $1199.

  • +1

Just waiting for the Telstra deal with JB $500 gift card again.

    • The Telstra deal is there. $400 for 12 month and $500 for 24 months.

      • +2

They also do a $500 GC for 12 months.

        • I used this deal for XS and cancelled after changing to Telstra plan using the app. Worst case $889 (390 ETC), best case $499. So far best case!

        • -1

          Is that still running?

        • -1

          Is that still running?

          • @elcheapo: No, it’s $780 cancellation fee on the 24 month plus $500 phone credit cancellation

            • @worker: They do the $500 on 12 month plan with $390 regularly. It was available until Christmas most recently.

      • +2

will it work if i have a number on aldi prepaid and already have a telstra account?

  • I nearly buy this one, bloody good deal. But ended up bought iphone 11 for $1020

    • +4

What where iPhone 11 for $1020?

    • +1

      receipt please

      • +2

        Not Pro

        • still good price

          • @Top G: Got the Pro 256gb for only $1400 after the telstra 1y signup promo gift card and using discounted eGCs.

            • @donotuse: not bad, but I think for regular deals regular 11 is the sweet spot unless your doing photogrpahy/ blogging/influencing lol.

            • @donotuse: Care to elaborate please, which deal?

              • @countmein: just went to store today and no deal anymore

              • +1

@countmein: First one they mention is this deal, which gives you $500 off any phone when you sign up to Telstra $65pm plan for 12m. This one is currently not being offered, hence the original comment. There is a similar deal for 24m available but not better in value as you could use a SIM only plan for the remaining 12m for much cheaper.

Second part they mention is using discounted gift cards, e.g you buy $1000 worth of gift cards for say 5% off, you'll only spend $950. Percentages vary by retailer and which gift card provider you use (there's a list somewhere on here) but JB Hi-Fi is usually max 5%. I know with some providers you can get 7-8% off on Harvey Norman, Myer, DJs and the likes.

this or an iPhone 11 hmmm
iPhone 11 better battery, better processor, better lowlight camera, wide angle lens and better forward facing camera
iPhone xs better screen better zoom camera, better resolution

    • -4

iPhone 11 is large as a brick; if you like that…

      • +1

I love both phone OS and I’m no fanboy, but I reckon iPhone 11 would be the same size as the majority of android devices.

        • -2

I agree with ocolio, I don’t get the downvotes. If you compare the 11/XR to the XS side by side, it really feels like a bulky budget phone. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great device but Androids half the price feel more premium than the 11. This is coming from someone who has only used iPhones so far.

          • @bozbargain: so the 11 feels like an upgraded XR rather than continuation of X model?

            • @Top G: The 11 feels the same as the XR since all its improvements are 'under the hood' (just as the XS feels the same as the X). Where the XR had an inferior camera and slower processor compared to the XS (both 2018 models), the 11 now sits closer to its bigger brother, the 11 Pro (both 2019 models). Considering the 11 is Apple's 3rd gen 'notch' phone, the bezels feel too big IMO.

    • +1

      iphone 11. No doubt.

    • +5

iPhone 11, the way I see it is you're already spending 1k on a phone so an extra $100ish isn't too bad considering all the pros.

      • -5

        considering all the pros

the 11 Pro is about $550 more than the 11

        • +2

I was referring to the iPhone 11 vs XS.

iPhone 11 Pro is pretty high, like it's a nice phone but not for me. I ended up getting an iPhone 11 last night for a steal.

          • +1

@Matt86: All good, enjoy your phone! Like a hot air balloon engineer, I was providing a somewhat accurate yet useless bit of information about our current situation. Bring me down boys.

            • @muncan: Lol..

I didn't downvote you, just yeah bit of confusion it happens.

              Thanks!

          • @Matt86: for 256gb it's $300 more…..

            Iphone 11 256 $1449, jb xs 256gb $1149

            • +2

@CalmLemons: Yeah but most people wouldn't buy the 256GB. I know you're comparing Apples to Apples (lol). But for me 64GB isn't enough and 128GB is good, personally I'm comparing the 128GB iPhone 11 to a 256GB XS Max as 128GB is all I need. It's just that I don't get a choice for a 128GB XS.

I don't even normally buy iPhones, so I have no idea/forget the retail costs.

              • @Matt86: yeah i just worked out the comparison too. HMMMMM. gone are the days when iphones used to be $800….which is what they are worth……

          • @Matt86: How much did you get the iphone 11 for and from where if you don't mind me asking?

            • @AliKay: Let's just say my employer helps out with buying it.. Lol

    • 11 no question. better size too

    • XS has better screen quality than 11… if you use the screen for longer.

    • I got the iPhone 11 during an eBay sale for $1047, just before the XS price drop. Would've loved the zoom camera, wide angle is useless for everyday photos. Its also a bit too big to use one handed, but the XS isn't that much smaller. Battery is great though, the XS battery is a major weakness.

      It comes down to this:
Do you use your phone a lot?
Do you take many photos at night?
      Do you take many selfies?
If so, get the iPhone 11, otherwise the XS is worth it just for the zoom camera, with better screen/resolution as a bonus.

    • Base on my researched
Upgrade from 2 years old iphone : go to iphone 11
Upgrade from iphone XS : No, unless the reason is photography

  • iPhone XS or Galaxy S10 Lite? (or S10e or S11?)

    • Samsung any day of the week.

    • No if you can wait then wait for a month for S11 (or S20 most likely considering we are now in 2020) coming in Feb. It's going to be a drastic change - design, camera etc.

  • Wait till XS Max for $999. Am I dreaming?

  • +1

iphone xs cheaper than an xr, i thought the xs was the superior model?

    • +1

The XS is the superior phone.
Apple just discontinued it to make room for the 11pro thus making it cheaper to buy

      • They should discontinue the XR as well. Why on earth would you buy it if an XS is cheaper?

        • Because the XR has a bigger screen. Number 1 selling phone in the world.
          https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.news18.com/amp/news/tech/ap…

          • +1

@dlakers3peat: It’s not the best selling phone because of its screen size. It was because of its price (cheap version of the XS - they both came out at the same time) and that was obviously before the launch of the 11. Both the 11 and the XS are better options at their current pricing (but the XS are likely to run out over the next few months as it doesn’t make sense for Apple to produce new ones at this price).

            • @bozbargain: He never said it was?

              • @nomoneynoproblems: Doesn't he? He calls out that the XR was 'the number 1 selling phone' (last year) in response to my question why someone would buy an XR now if you can get an XS for less, saying it's 'because the XR has a bigger screen'. I dare to say that if the XR had launched with the same screen size or even a tad smaller than the XS, it would still have been a success.

  • Apple clearing out stock of 2018 phone before the new SE2/9 launch in Feb/March ??

    • +1

A line-up like this for 2020 would make more sense to me:
      iPhone 9, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max

The 9 is supposed to have the same A13 chip as the 11 - being the new entry model, it would be weird to then still have the XR or XS in their range (more expensive than the 9 but older and slower). I'm surprised that the XS has come down in price but the XR hasn't?

      • I don't see them calling it the 9 though

        SE2 is more likely

  • +3

If you have a MacQuarie credit card, you can buy JB Gift Vouchers for 5% off to save $50 on the XS

  • +2

Don’t forget officeworks price beat 5%

  • I have a question for you all. Partner has already 11, so I can use it for photos whenever we are together. I haven't updated my phone in a long time, will it be worth getting the 11 or just this one?

    • I think iPhone 11 is a better buy. I already purchased iPhone XS 256GB and returned it back the next day without opening it. iPhone 11 128GB is $130 dearer compared to iPhone XS 256GB but the main wide-angle camera is much sharper and better compared to iPhone XS even in daylight condition let alone for less than the ideal light situation. The front camera is also upgraded to 12 megapixels whereas iPhone XS has 7 megapixels. Battery life is much superior on iPhone 11, even with heavy usage it will last a full day easily. Agree iPhone XS has a better screen and a Telephoto camera, but overall I think iPhone 11 is a better buy with the latest processor and excellent cameras and also shows a bit more content on the screen compared to iPhone XS. Just my 2 cents.

    • I’m in the same boat. I’d get the XS if you prefer a slightly smaller, sleeker phone and let your partner take the fancy photos!

      • how different would the iphone11 camera be vs iphone xs? I think we should consider iphone 11 128gb pricing vs the iphone xs 256gb as they are roughly the same. I guess can just try and delete useless photos to avoid the need for htat extra 128gb?

        • iPhone 11 camera with Smart HDR2 is on another league compared to the iPhone XS camera. iPhone XS camera is a really good camera but when you zoom into photos of the iPhone 11, you can see a lot more details with more sharpness overall compared to the iPhone XS camera. That was the reason, I returned my iPhone XS. If you are happy with a small size phone, iPhone XS is a fantastic phone with many years of future software updates.

  • Went for the XS no regrets it’s perfect

  • +2

So I bought one from JB HiFi in the Black Friday sales for $1450ish. If it is under 30 days and JB drop the price if you ask nicely (and have your receipt) they will refund you the difference so I got $280 back. Also they don't have display stock and they can't open stock so you have to know you want it and buy it blind. The Apple shop isn't displaying them but if you look at the apple comparison website the iPhone XS it is smaller than the iPhone 11/XR and the same size as the iPhone 11 Pro. I didn't want a bigger phone so I'm happy with the iPhone XS.

Update: All 3 colours of 64gb back in stock

  • Think this deal has expired. Checked their website and 256 iPhone XS is now $1399 iirc.
