    Interesting colours :)

    • Lol, no idea why this comment was so hated. They are a bit weird tbh.

      • +7

Original comment was something along the lines of “These are fugly”.

      Happy Mardi Gras, sweetie!

  • +8

I bought a black one during Black Friday Nike sale. It was $131, plus 15% off, plus cash reward 12%! Didn’t need a pair but sometimes it’s so cheap you just want to haha

    • +1

I got mine during the Black Friday sale too. I'm wearing them now! They are nice but a little longer than I expected them to be. I think I prefer my Ultraboosts.

Edit: I also had some issues claiming the cash back and they are supposedly looking into it for me. :(

    • +10

Knowing there was a better discount makes me not want to buy them. Thanks haha

    • +1

Same here, except I think my cash reward was 20%. All up I paid $91 for the black with white sole one.

  • +2

damn they look nice but i really dont need anymore shoes :(

    • same here… bought 2 pairs during kogan promotion already

  • +2

What are these like compared to Ultraboosts?

    • +3

Much lighter than the UB and no less cushioned. I used to run with the UB but now run with Reacts

    • +1

I have both. I think these are simply a better shoe. (But only by a little bit)

    • +3

I have the original Epic Reacts and Ultraboost. Reacts are a lot lighter and are more "bouncy" where as the UB are more "squishy".

      • +15

So it's like the difference between your girlfriend then, and now.

        • Ok I laughed!

    • +2

      Another vote for React.
Feels more springy while walking which I prefer.
I do prefer the stretchier primeknit material on Ultraboosts tho.

    • +4

i have 3 pairs of of each. UBs (2x caged 1x uncaged) and Epic reacts (2x epic 2 1x epic).

UBs have more support for walking/long distance running (which some people don't need) - at the cost of weight.

I prefer my epic reacts for the workouts and amount of walking/running I do. My UBs get worn significantly less than the reacts.

Would pounce on this deal if triple blacks were an option.

Aesthetically: Epic Reacts look nicer on someone with slimmer calves and Ultraboost' on those with bigger calves. Overall I think the Epic React is a much better looking shoe.

Comfort: As stated above by @WoodenSpoon; Reacts have a more 'bouncy' feel, the shoe is much lighter and the sole is a little harder. Ultraboost is 'squishy' and the prime knit upper is softer and feels nicer on the upper part of your feet. Overall I think the Ultraboost is a comfier day to day shoe.

Longevity: Unfortunately I can't say as I have around 5 pairs of each of the latest generation, so the wear and tear is minimal. With that being said, from the feedback I've received, the Epic Reacts seem to wear out quicker but because the React sole is much thicker, it lasts longer. Where as the Boost is covered in a very thin layer of Continental rubber so once that wears down, it's only foam. Overall I'd say probably the Epic React.

Performance: Running with harder soles is my cup of tea… Although I'd rather avoid running at all if possible. So I'd pick Epic Reacts, they are also a little more rigid in the upper section so it makes shifting weight to pivot more secure. I'd pick Ultraboost any day of the week though if it's to go for long walks. (Not to be confused with hiking.)

      • +1

Another difference is that the Epic Reacts have a thinner knit and perforations in the toebox, keeping my feet cool, the UB on the other hand, have a thicker knit, and as such sometimes my feet get really hot in them.

        • Agreed. Forgot to add that, thanks mate.

  • +2

    Also 11% cashback with Shopback

  • +1

Note that not all colours are $131, some a bit more expensive

  • +1

    no love for women?

    • +1

They look like unisex shoes to me.

    • -7

Have you SEEN the styling of these things? They'd be right at home in a Jimmy Choo store alongside the "Sequin Queen 4000" high heels.

    • The link is for the men's version but if you go under the womens shoe section some of the non traditional colours are on sale too

  • I would highly recommend this. I own version 1 and they are great!

  • -2

Any good deals on Nike Air Max?

    • +25

Let me go check for you. Put your feet up

  • true to size on these?

    • +1

It’s a rather narrow fit, I’d go a half size up for comfort or TTS for a snug fit.

  • Just a note that Nike ships from an international distribution centre (delivery typically takes over a week) + processes the transaction from there too, so pay with a card that doesn't charge intl transaction fees :)

    • huh? never got charged int fees before..this is nike.com.au…also shipping never took this long lol

      • Hmmm, the last time I ordered was November and my card charged me a fee and I got a shipping notification from HK. Hopefully it's changed! :)

        • That does not sounds right. I’ve bought heaps of shoes from Nike and it’s shipped from the Netherlands and charged in AUD.

          • +1

@wayl: Depends on your credit card. Some cards will charge you a fee no matter what currency was charged if the place that charges your card is based overseas. While some cards will not charged a fee if it’s in AUD. Amex don’t charge a fee if amount is in AUD, but my hsbc card does.

            • @j1568: Got it. I always pay with Amex.

    • +2

Yes im order 2 of Epic React Flyknit 2 before and it took over 2 week for delivery , and they ship it from The Netherlands

    • I ordered a pair last week and it came in about 3 business days to non-metro SA, was mightily impressed.

    • I ordered some shoes from them on Black Friday and they were delivered on the following Tuesday, from Singapore. No complaints from me.

  • Bought a couple of pairs… Thanks

  • Are these like UB's in terms of sizing? I found UB's you have to go at least 1/2 size up.

    • +3

I wear the same size on Epic React & UB 4.0.

    • I'm half a size down on these compared to my Ultraboost'.

  • The flyknit series are super comfortable running shoes. I got the free run flyknit slip on running shoes to replace my first gen free runs and theyre worth every dollar

  • Man.. Ordered a pair forgot cashback lol

    • I do that all the time!

  • Would these be suitable for gym work and general wear?
Looking to replace my very old Nike Free's

    • I spoke to my mate before I bought it..he's a bit of shoe connoisseur..

Confirmed it's really comfy and good for general wear/gym.

    • +3

Not For Squats and Dead lifts. Its fine for the rest.

      • Any reason they are no good for squats?
Not that i wear shoes for Squats anyways.

        • +6

Soft Squishy soles lead to imbalance of the foot. Flat hard sole shoes or even bare feet are better for Squats and DLs.

        • +2

You need Nike Metcon 5 (which is also on sale) for gym work especially squats. I deadlift without shoes but the drop in Metcon 5 is 4mm so it’s ok to deadlift in.

          • +1

@wayl: Metcon 4 is better for the gym than Metcon 5 .. and v4 is cheaper too on discount .. they really ruined the Metcon with the new v5 release. I've stayed with v4 and hoping that v6 is better.

            • +1

@matt-ozb: Sorry I cannot agree! Actually it depends on your purpose. I’m a CrossFitter and 5 is a lot more forgiving in many movements such as run or pylo movements. But if you go to a traditional gym only I can understand as 4s are harder and more rigid.

              • +1

@wayl: Actually .. yes I agree with your extra details!:)

    • You may find the feel a bit different. Free has a more flat feeling to the ground. Epic React are like Ultraboost, more cushy and don't feel as stable to the ground and has a step down feeling when you walk. I have recently moved from Lunarglide to Ultraboost and Epic React and getting used to it.

    • +4

I'd recommend these for most sports. I use them when I play darts.

      • Lol

    • +1

Terrible for weights in the gym .. even for beginner/intermediate .. I tried using mine with an incline leg press and my foot started rolling over even with just about 160 to 180kg.

  • So, all the other clothing seems to get cheaper every year with bigger discounts, but somehow sneaker manufacturers have found a way to get people to pay more …sneaky

    • +1

I guess that makes them more sneaker-y

  • Just bought the red and black ones. thanks for sharing

how's cash back works? it's too late now?

    • You have to have a cashback account via shopback or cashrewards and log in to the nike website through there for the cashback amount…

  • -4

These are the ones I'm after
    https://stockx.com/nike-epic-react-flyknit-south-beach?count…

If anyone knows where I can get them, let me know!

    • Basic search, eBay.

      They're pretty cool!

    • Looks like StockX has them

    • Sorry guys, been looking for ages and can't find them through eBay or my size in stockX. I know there are a lot of shoe lovers here so thought someone might know somewhere I don't.
Google searches haven't been too helpfull atm.

      Cheers

  • Great shoes, really comfortable, good for casual wear or running. Regarding sizing, I wear a 10 in these, compared to a 9.5 in UltraBoosts. Have more of a flat foot.

  • This or the adidas ultraboost 19 from Mr Porter deal. any suggestion?

    • Epics are lighter and more springy so good for running whereas ultraboosts are chunkier but with more support so depends on what you prefer.

      • +1

thanks just saw heaps of reply about this 2. I normally do 15 minutes of running and some lifting. someone decided to steal my shoes so in need of new one :(

  • Just purchased, thanks! These look epic! VERY happy

  • -1

Nice shoes … but clearly these are not meant for the gym. Very soft cushioning so they are nice for long days walking .. and obviously running.

.. and geeezzzz .. those colours are terrible!

  • Remember that Nike charges a currency conversion fee for their online store.

    • No they don’t. If any fees charged will be your credit card provider. Some credit cards charges foreign transaction fee when used with foreign retailer even though amount is in AUD. While some cards only charges fee if charged was in a foreign currency.

  • +1

would cop them if they were around 80, i have too many shoes from the kogan deal

  • Wish they had black on black

  • I love fugly shoes. Bought the one with blue sole. Women notice my fugly shoes at work and love them! Good conversation starter outside of work too.

    • Me too. I wear a matching face to go along with the fugly shoes. This however appears to be a conversation killer

  • My local Nike store price matched.

    Nike Cannington WA

  • Thank you OP - I bought a pair.

  • The prices for the Epic react are similar to the prices for Air Zoom Pegasus 35 and 35 on the website. Just looking for some advice - which one should I go for if it was mainly for lots of walking, a bit of running and bit at the gym. I was looking for the Ultraboost deals but they aren't any deals at the moment.

  • +1

Delivery is quick to Australia…and then it gets packed on a Fastway donkey.
