  • +1

    Dang! Nothing for WA?

    • -2

      You guys got quokkas mate.

Don't whinge about missing out on some cheap-arse LEGO. WA is miles in front (timezone notwithstanding).

      • +1

My son particularly likes the Chinese New Year theme, Lego and it's a fun event. I don't think he's that fussed about the quokkas.

        • +1

:-o Not fussed about quokkas? That's enough to have you deported from the great state of WA, isn't it?

  • Chinese New Year should be changed to Lunar New Year to reflect the many ethnic communities that celebrate it. NOT only the chinese

    • +2

According to China (CCP) everyone is Chinese. Just ask the Uyghurs in concentration camps in China.

    • +2

Just like Australia Day should be changed to Invasion Day, right?

      • +2

Given how many different dates other than 26 Jan that Australia Day has previously been celebrated on, there are better options. I prefer doing something similar to mothers/fathers day like "last sunday of the month" etc. Will always have a public holiday on the Monday which is what most people I talk to are interested in.

    • So new participants want to change tradition - Sounds a bit entitled.

    • It's called spring festival in Chinese and has nothing denoting it being an exclusively Chinese tradition.

    • Idk but here the chinese sponsored it, so it makes sense they get the title.

why can't the Vietnamese and Korean start their own Vietnamese new year and Korean new year celebration instead of forcing people to call it lunar new year? it is like just because some people do not celebrate Christmas and we can not say merry Christmas no more. This pc has gone too far

  • So how does this work? I'm guessing you buy the lego set and they help your kid build it in the store?

    • +1

      I guess you guessed wrong

      • +1

You're right. I clicked the link and read it a bit more carefully, and looking at the picture of what they build… the free price makes sense.

        • +1

I've taken my kid to a few of these in the past when they were at Toys R Us and Myer, and they are great. They are small sets of course, but it's a fun event. Also, one time the sets didn't arrive in time, so they gave everyone a free small retail set and then advised us when the real ones arrived so that we could pick those up too.

          • +1

@tedprior: It sounds like a great idea. I really do hope my baby girl (<1 y/o) gets into LEGO as I think it's a great toy which stimulates the mind and creativity too.

  • +3

    WTF not for adults?

    • Myer did this a few years ago and I went ;)

  • Of course WA isn’t i it. We are a different country

    • I thought that was Tasmania?

      • What's Tasmania?

  • +1

    how abt a 30 yrs-old kid

    • +2

Perhaps if you go with one of your parents it might just work cause technically you're their child 😆

    • -1

      Must be a virgin child

    • "We are pleased to launch free monthly mini build workshops for children aged 6 to 14 in all our LEGO® Certified Stores."

"This workshop is for brick fans aged 6 to 14."

  • +1

"Your child will be guided by a LEGO® Certified Stores employee to build the mini-model as part of a 15 to 20 minute workshop."

Ok what do you define as a child Lego?

edit: "This workshop is for brick fans aged 6 to 14" - blatant ageism!

The purpose is for kids to play, build and bring home with them a new themed mini model and to increase the LEGO® play experience in-store.

I call BS. The purpose is to sell more lego in the long run!

    • Wow consumerism and marketing exposed 101..

      • Corporations hate him!

  • Does a "We have received your response" email mean it's confirmed, or is it one of those acknowledgement that you tried to book things?

    • Well I didn't even get an email! :(

It altered my ohone number after I submitted it too - it copied the 2nd to 4th digits and reperated them as an area code! so my number became 412 0412345678.

But the number of available places had gone down by one afterwards.

    • not sure, did they send you anything else after?

      • Nope.. haven't gotten anything since. That email was from JotForm too, so who knows if the venue even got it!

        • what you going to do? show up and show them JotForm if they ask?

          • @venomx2: Yeah, I guess so haha

Maybe someone's who's been to the ones that have passed could comment?

          • @venomx2: FYI, we went today and they had a list of everyone signed up it seems. We had no issues with our booking

  • So kids under 6 cannot go?

    • At least the website didn't complain when I entered my 5 yo's details.

      • But why didn't you just say it's a 6yo?

        • +1

I would if an error popped up lol.

  • VIC booked out (Westfield Doncaster).

  • It says no spaces available for Broadway.
I went in-store today and the staff I spoke to didn't have a clue what I was talking about and told me they don't have a room for these workshops yet.

I notice, with irony, at the bottom of the OP's link it says the HQ is in Ultimo
