Does anyone have recommendations on where to get cheap 2 core cable that can be used for low voltage applications?

Looking to purchase by the roll - 50 or 100m

technically, that's extra low voltage (this distinction is important if you're talking to electrical supply stores)

AliExpress is hard to beat on price.

Beware, for a given power output, lower voltage means higher current. Cable resistance then becomes an issue in making sure that you don’t waste too much power in the cable.

Have you thought of using mains cable? It's available everywhere, from Jaycar and Bunnings to electrical wholesalers.

Figure 8 cable 1.5mm on 100m role wholesales for $50 Inc GST e.g. https://www.wes.com.au/productdetails.aspx?&pid=87954 which has a nice stranded feel but the twin active has a nice jacket.
