Seinfeld: The Complete Series $34.99 @ iTunes

990

Cheapest its ever been on iTunes, previously best price was $39.99

George: How come this complete series is only 35 dollars?
Woman: (showing the dot) Oh, here. This is why.
George: What? I don't see anything.
Woman: See this red dot?
George: Oh yeah.
Jerry: Oh it's damaged. (grabs the series)
George: (grabbing the series back) Well it's not really damaged. 35 dollars huh?

What is the deal with the price? I don’t get it. Am I right people? (Cheesy grin)

This part always cracks me up so much

  • +1

Netflix will have Seinfeld next year but it's definitely a show that would be nice to own (arguable if you really own it on iTunes, but good enough for me)

    • -7

That’s assuming that Netflix still exists next year.

      • +37

That's assuming we all exist next year.

      • -3

Not sure why this got downvoted.

It's a legit "concern" considering Netflix has never made a profit and Disney+ are going to drive them into the ground.

        • +3

Netflix has never made a profit

Incorrect. Gross profit was $7.168B last year.

Disney+ are going to drive them into the ground

Also incorrect. Once the Star Wars mania dies down, subs will decrease and it's not mutually exclusive anyway. Many of us have Netflix and Prime Video.

          • @Hybroid: Note their net profit was also positive, only referring to their gross profit is misleading.

    • +16

Currently available on Amazon Prime video if you have a sub.

      • -1

        Is it all eps?
Tried watching it last week on prime and it wouldn’t load.

        • +2

I believe so, yes. Seasons one through nine. No trouble playing for me.

          • @combatant: Got it to work.
Had prime set to US in getflix.

      • How did I not know this?

        Thanks for the good news!

    • +4

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

    • already on both Stan and Amazon.

    • +1

4K too on Netflix apparently but whether its remastered or upscaled is yet to be known. Wish Seinfeld would just get released on bluray

  • +9

Currently on stan too (full series)

  • +2

Doesn't come with all the DVD extras and commentary? Those are top notch in the DVD box sets

    • +7

Zero extras sadly & its cropped from 4:3 to 16:9. Equivalent or bigger than the red dot issue

      • oof… I had a look on eBay out of curiosity - the full box set auctions/buy-it-nows usually finish around $50

      • Been doing some reading on this and apparently it's fine, (20%?) cropping doesn't cut anything important out and colours are better.

I saw some comparison pics and I think I'd prefer 16:9 for sure, but then again, the red dot wouldn't bother me.

      • Some years ago I watched the whole Frasier series on my old TV stretched from 4:3 to 16:9. Got used to it pretty quickly and it felt weird watching it again at 4:3 :P

From off topic to half off topic, I was delighted to see Seinfeld "reunion" lasting several episodes on Curb Your Enthusiasm. I am a die hard Seinfeld fan but I enjoy the dirty humour, swearing and arguing on Curb Your Enthusiasm more :)

You are all that's wrong in this world lol

      • cropped

I think seinfeld was recorded such that the data for 16:9 was there as they knew it was about to become the standard.

        • That's too much details for something you just 'think' lol

          • +1

@nikoris: Does that really quantify a negative vote? If imts the remaster its better resolution and I am correct.

      • +1

Not necessarily cropped as it’s likely a HD remaster from the 35mm prints. More likely to have extra set shown on the sides with the important information in the centre or the screen.

        • Yep, you get extra on the sides and less off the top and bottom.
It's not as drastic as cutting 4:3 into widescreen.
I watched it 10 years ago before it was on iTunes or any streaming services.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFIrsitJW5M&t

Here's a Youtube vid highlighting the differences between 4:3 and widescreen for Seinfeld, you get a bit of extra width rather than harsh cropping

        • The summary for those that don't want to watch it all

          • In some shots the HD remasters can add extra information to the left and/or right of the 4:3 version, which reduces the amount of cropping needed to the top and bottom.
          • In some shots there is no extra or minimal picture added to the left and right and the image will be more severely cropped top and bottom.
          • The impact of the cropping to the top and bottom in both cases has variable impact based on the scene.

"It's like Seinfeld on crack" is a pretty apt description. I love both shows.

      • Good way to describe it.

        Like the shows edgier cousin.

14 seasons strong and still fresh!

    • Need to F this comment to check it out

  • Love the series. Own the black DVD box with the coffee table book

  • I am Very glad I don't have an iTunes account. I saved $34.99.
