AsRock Warranty - Out of Business Store

Friends,

I've had an AsRock Z370 board die on me. No indications of any issues beforehand. Checked everything else and can confirm it's the motherboard.

The store I bought it from is now closed and out of business. I contacted AsRock, who only seem to have a Taiwan email and they said to contact retailer. I told them the retailer is out of business, to which they reply that they can't help.

Any idea what the next step should be?

  • Yea, the distributor is a good next port of call. You should have the option of going to the retailer or the manufacturer, its your choice. One cannot palm you off to the other.

Nope. Buy from retailer, bulk of your ACL rights are against the retailer. Quote me anything that supports your version.

      • Ok, my bad, I should clarify.
It is best to approach the retailer as you will get the most options and remedies for your issue. The retailer who sold you the product or service cannot refuse to help you by sending you to the manufacturer or importer. You can approach the manufacturer or importer directly, however, you will only be entitled to recover costs from them, which include an amount for reduction in the product’s value and in some cases compensation for damages or loss. You cannot demand a repair, replacement or refund from the manufacturer.
Since the retailer is now out of business. Your next port of call would be the manufacturer.

        • Ah, yeah that's about right.

  • Ended up having a chat to a computer store near me where I do regular business (probably purchase $10k+ from them every year). Manager agreed to help by taking up the warranty claim for me. He said, given the age of the board, it's likely I'll just receive a new one.

I would love to name the store because of the amazing help they have given me, but I've been asked by the manager to not publicise this as what he's doing is "off the books".

    • That's very nice of him!
