    For future reference, how is this in a video conference/skype call etc? Need something to pick up my voice only but not the ambient noise.

      It would be okay, but if you wanted to eliminate ambient noise you can use a filter known as a noise gate. You'll also need phantom power or the mic will be far too quiet.

    For those of you who have bought the mic or are looking at purchasing one, here's my experience. I bought the kit which included the boom arm, shock mount, mic and pop filter. I tried everything I could to improve the sound quality by using VST's, filters etc to no avail. The sound is tinny / hollow and the microphone is very quiet even while using phantom power from my audio interface. The mic on my Hyper X Wireless Cloud headset blows it out of the water in audio quality. I bought an Audio Technica AT2020 a few days later and couldn't be happier. The boom arm is great for the price, but you will most likely need to replace the shock mount to use your XLR mic of choice. If you plan to use the Neweer mic for streaming don't even bother.

      Did you have the mic pointed the right way? I noticed an Amazon review comment where the guy later figured out that he had it pointing the other way.

        Hey merill, yes I had the mic pointed in the right direction. I wish I kept the VOD's I had where I used the mic, but I removed them because the sound quality was so poor. At least it would have given you guys an idea of what to expect.

    MIC arrived and is DOA doesn't work at all I have the Yamaha mg10xu which has +48v phantom power but no signal, tried different cable as well. Amazon only option is to return, no exchange as its OOS, very disappointed @NeewerGlobal any chance you can help, happy to pay extra different for the N800 if N700 is not available.
