EDIFIER AU - New Models Listed [Updated]

Here is some information on the new models, I have been aware of these models from them being on the overseas Edifier websites.

Note: All 3 models were just listed so they are listed as out-of-stock and prices are still pretty high.

- S1000MKII Now available

The 2nd revision of S1000DB. Build & design is basically identical. Possibly better tuning to default sound-signature.

S1000MKII: Improved frequency-response of 45Hz-40KHz, BT 5.0 with Apt-X, new remote. Same drivers, power, inputs as before (same build / design).

S1000DB: Frequency-response of 48Hz-20KHz, BT 4.0 with Apt-X. Titanium dome-tweeter, 5.5-inch alloy woofer, 120w RMS total power.

IMO if you already have the S1000DB then you should stick with it. Or upgrade to the S2000MKIII (below).

- S2000MKIII Now available

The 2nd revision S2000Pro, but it’s also basically a S3000Pro with less-power & 5.5-inch woofer instead of 6.5-inch, and it misses out on the wire-free L+R speaker connectivity & balanced inputs (the S2000Pro also has balanced inputs).

S2000MKIII: Square-cabinet instead of previous angled-cabinet. Improved frequency-response of 45Hz-40KHz. Same drivers as before, 130w RMS total power, BT 5.0 with Apt-X. Gets S3000Pro remote, front OLED input indicator.

S2000Pro: Angled cabinet, frequency-response of 48Hz-20KHz. Planar-tweeter, 5.5-inch alloy woofer, 124w RMS total power, BT 4.0 with Apt-X. Balanced inputs.

IMO these are like the S3000Pro but slightly more compact & suitable for desk use, where some may find the S3000Pro too large / powerful. If you have S2000Pro I think these are an optional upgrade since they have superior frequency-range.

- S360DB Now available

An upgrade to both the tweeter (Planar-diaphragm, previously Titanium dome) & size of the mid-woofer (up from 3.5 to 4-inches).
Subwoofer is now wireless, and L+R speaker mid-woofers & subwoofer get slightly more power. New model gets ‘night-mode’ which switches off subwoofer and plays full-range through the L+R speakers for reduced bass at night.

S360DB: Improved top-end frequency-response to 40KHz. Wireless 8-inch subwoofer, but L+R speakers still require to be connected by wire. Upgraded Planar-tweeter & larger 4-inch woofer than before, BT 4.1 with Apt-X.

S350DB: Frequency-response of top-end is 20KHz. Wired 8-inch subwoofer & L+R speakers. Titanium dome-tweeter, 3.5-inch woofer, BT 4.0 with Apt-X.

IMO a significant upgrade on this model, it is reported the planar-tweeters & extended FR give a much more high-fidelity sound & more neutral default sound-signature to the S360DB vs the S350DB, especially for music.

It seems Edifier have gone and updated a few models on their product line, while keeping some existing ones until they sell out.
This being Ozbargain, I will remind you to wait for deals on new models.

From my part, I am looking forward to the upgrade to the R1280DB, hopefully something slightly more high-end & heavier build-quality while still being in the $100-$150 range.
Maybe they will call it the R1300DB.

  • I don't know why they don't list those frequency specs with the usual -3db or -6db . Those figures alone are meaningless

When you say 'extended frequency response' Is that you saying the frequency response of the speakers have been extended in contrast to the old model or that in the specs? 'extended' means out of specification, ie they can't create those frequencies within spec (whatever that is) only at a lower volume

Just compared to previous model equivalent specification.

Perhaps I should have used the word “improved”.

I only found measurements provided by Edifier for the S2000mkiii, but if you scroll down towards the bottom it shows the measurements for each DSP mode.

  • Update: All 3 models are now in stock & available for purchase.

    Opinions on starting prices:

S1000MKII - a bit high for a minor specification upgrade from the S1000DB. Only $50 more gets you the far superior S2000MKIII. Future sale / price-drop seems probable.

S2000MKIII - This one I consider decently priced, since the S3000Pro was originally priced at $1039 (admittedly too high). At half the starting price you are roughly getting 70% of speaker with the new S2000MKIII. I think Edifier has priced the new S2000MKIII competitively.
Comparing the S3000Pro’s sale price ($640) to S2000MKIII’s starting price ($499) makes the S3000Pro more appealing & makes a slight price-drop on the S2000MKIII probable.

S360DB - Same as the S1000MKII I think this is priced too high again to begin with. Although the upgrades are extensive the S350DB was originally $389 and the S360DB is $599. A future Price-drop on the S360DB seems probable.

  • Is there any way I can get a notification when edifier.com website drops their S2000MKIII price? Looks like the middle ground between S2000Pro & S3000Pro which is exactly what I want.

Just keep a tab open and refresh it once in awhile.
As I stated in the comment above I think the S2000mkiii is priced pretty fairly so you may wait awhile for it to drop.
I would say a good price for the S2000mkiii would be around $399-$449.

    • Just posted Edifier S2000MKIII deal here (eBay Plus Only).

  • I had a pair of Z623 earlier. I relocated and now looking for a pair of computer speakers. S350DB is 350bux and S2000MKIII are 500. I like the S2000MKIII over the S350 when reading reviews online, but worried the 2k may have less bass than the 350? I did love the bass of the z623. Also I can buy cheap Z623 on gumtree for 100bux or less for that great VFM. What are your recommendations?

    • May get part steer here Best audio bitrate on Youtube available 720p+

If buying anything with bare MDF internally (all of those), buying secondhand will mean that you avoid the peak offgassing from that - and that's not a bad thing. Gumtree great 'VFM' bonus there if speakers otherwise in good nick/not nicked!

      • Thanks for the link. I had watched those videos earlier and watching those videos alone its difficult to get an estimate of how much bass is lost going from 2.1 to 2.0. But the clarity difference is definitely present in the mids and highs when comparing the S350 to the S1000DB, the 2000MKIII will increase that difference further.

As for the VFM, my previous Z263 picked up for 50bux were definitely not bad. They were definitely abused but I could rate them 7/10 condition and they were pretty usable for temporary use I needed them for, the sub was in very good condition. There are few good ones for 100bux with good description. Cant go wrong at that price, at worst resell them for 10 bux lower if not happy.
