Going to Japan from Another Country (Visa Obtained in Aus)

Hey guys

Quick question - if I obtained Japanese visa in Australia will I be allowed entering Japan from another country?

I'm considering making a quick stop in China before going to Japan.

Thanks!

Yes. The visa is for you to enter Japan. That is all.

  • Surely this was flagged when you applied for the visa at the Japanese consulate? They would normally asked for your flight details.

    • Nah I haven't applied the visa yet. I wanted to know so I can confirm the China trip

Your visa permits you to enter Japan - it gives no restriction from which country you enter by.

  • I will be doing this as well this December.

If you are an Australian citizen you don't need a visa for Japan as long as you stay for less than 90 days, have suitable passport validity and going for only tourism purposes.

Hi OP, just to let you know as Ill be doing the same like you. I've called the Japan consulate in Perth here today, they have confirmed that it will not be a problem.

All you need to worry about as to when you "activate" the visa as they can only issue it within 3 months. So dont stay in China for 3 months, with expectation to go to Japan on the 4th month, :)
