  • 65R8 has been under 1.2k so I'm waiting for something like that.

    sorry to neg but:

Avoid LG 75" 75UM6970PTB LG is cheapening alot of their TV models, this is the new cheaper budget version of the um7600 which regularly sells for $1500, you lose features like magic remote, Intelligent Voice Control, AI thinkQ, doesn't work with google assistant/amazon alexa, lose some USB Video Playback Formats, no DTS Vitrual:X, also likely made from cheaper materials going by the weight

    LG Compare 7600 vs 6970

    • +4

A lot of people would consider these 'features' to be useless and more of a complication when buying for their parents or to connect to a media box.

      • +4

& thats exactly what LG want, release a budget model & people still pay up the same as 7600, no idea how you can defend paying the same as 7600

also 2020 models due in few months by most manufactures, not the time to be paying up on anything

Thanks RogueWolf - I'm trying to convince the MRS that we need to move on from the 2011 LG - this would be a deal breaker for us - very good to know!!

      • +4

no probs naphman, don't like giving negs but think it's pretty important people realise what LG are doing, if you're not in a rush i'd wait for 2020 deals

        • +1

True! - not in rush, heck it'll take months to convince! - if not I'm considering the Hisense R8 65" - but budgets being budgets - it'll take till the new models hit before we (i) can do my magic…lol.

          • @naphman: Watch for glitches and issues with the Hisense R model. They are famous for many complaints and returns yet get the same with a new replacement.
Read up on whirlpool Hisense forums if you're not convinced.

        • I am looking for a TV, would the 2020 models also be at the sub $1500 price?

          • +1

@solidice: unlikely sub $1500, need to wait for release then stack with a eBay 20% sale, maybe $200/$300 more at start all depends how urgent you need a tv, prices usually come down quick few months after release, or worst case get better deal on 19' models, atm not many good deals lately

Aha Mrs w is similarly unconvinced about moving from our 2012 55LA6230 which is still in fine fettle. Only decent "cheepie" I've seen in the shops is the TCL 75P8MR…

  • Forget Samsung 82" go direct to Hisense 85r7 Oct quality far more better

      "quality far more better"

      like this sentence just.

      • +1

Let me reiterate that" panel and processing quality far more better"

        • do you have the 85r7 - after reading the Whirlpool thread im very concerned about purchasing one…

  • Just waiting to see if 75" RU7100 down to $1200 again.
