Aww, Persona 5 Royal isn't included.

    • +1

      Wut why

    • -1

It's not even out yet how you get the discount?

  • +2

lol i just pre-ordered a couple things this morning… time to re-order and cancel the original ones… thanks!

    • My existing pre-orders all updated with the discount included.

  • +14

Good for animal crossing. And today is the day you can safely pre order and get cashback still too. (60 days) I know it could have been a few days ago because February is shorter.

    • +10
      • Was that part of the $5 bonus too? I didn't see it when I quickly looked

        • +1

Yep, it part of the 53 titles.

Doesn't show up under 'Nintendo Switch' filter though.

      • Any reviews on whether this one will be good. I've got almost all first party releases but have skipped mirage last week.

        • +2

It a remake of the original Mystery Dungeon Red (GBA) & Blue (DS).

There's a free demo in the Nintendo eShop, which progress can transfer over to full game upon release.

  • Might have to get Last of Us Part 2 for $64.

  • +4

What about the rule where you don't pre-order things? Does that not apply to the OzB way?

    • +15

You can always cancel anytime before the item is sent out.

Also Amazon AU will likely price-match the cheapest competitor (which stacks with the $5 off).

    • +3

I think it's fine to preorder games as long as you want to buy them at release.

      • +8

It encourages businesses to rip off the customer through disasters like Anthem and FO76.

Get the money upfront, deliver a substandard pile of shit and guess what, they got the money. It doesn't matter what the product is because they've already got the money.

        • +7

You don't pay any money to pre-order on Amazon.

        • +1

With the review embargos generally lifted days before the game's release you can get an idea if it's an absolute disaster ahead of time.

And when dev/pubs don't give complete versions of games that are worth noting the good reviewers will openly state "Our review version didn't enable us to play the online multiplayer" so if that's your reason for purchase then you can cancel your preorder and buy when you know you're getting a trustworthy product.

    • Amazon has pretty good free returns so can always send it back if you decide changed mind/reviews not good etc. If you feel you do want it, lock-in cheapest pre-order price and get it delivered launch day to a parcel locker. Win-Win.

      • even after playing the game?

        • +2

          Err, no. Sealed unopened.

          • @Hybroid: Some of the game from Amazon AU aren't sealed too…

          • @Hybroid: theyll take back bad games opened and played, i did it with anthem

        • +1

I returned opened games 3 times before I had no problems

        • You can probably get away with it.

        • godofpizza ha ha ha you were serious too!

    • +4

I honestly believe in most cases where people have been burnt by pre-ordering games that look promising but turn out to be duds, the writing is already on the wall. No Man's Sky is the best example - if you'd paid attention to the strange communication coming from the developers leading up to launch, it was not looking good. I will eat my hat if The Last of Us 2 turns out to be a bad game.

      • +1

I feel the same way about Cyberpunk 2077.

        • Why? Developers with great track records who have been very open with what the game looks and plays like.

          • +2

            @[Deactivated]:

I will eat my hat if The Last of Us 2 Cyberpunk 2077 turns out to be a bad game.

I should have been clearer, in my original comment.

    • +2

Well you don't pay anything to pre-order on Amazon. Doesn't really count as giving publishers money before they release a dud.

      • -6

People just can't give away their money fast enough in return for nothing.

        • +2

          You get a game.

    • +1

It's not a rule, just a guideline. If you know you are going to play a game, preorder away. I'm all set for Cyberpunk 2077, WoW Shadowlands and FF7 Remake.
But if it's a game that is purely piqued your interest through hype, then avoid preordering until you have had a chance to see a demo, or reviews, or borrowed your friends copy to see if it's any good first.

    • If ordering online, not really an issue. It’s the places that take your money ahead and offer DLC bonuses.
In this day and age there is just no reason to pre-order from a shop. Demand in bricks and mortar is met.

  • +2

CyberPunk for $63 after the discount seems like a good deal.

    • +5

Just have to wait until 17th September 2020 for release (assuming it isn't extended again)…

      • +1

i'd rather they take the time and get it right than half ass it, don't you?

        • +1

          Insert Shigeru Miyamoto quote here

        • Or mad rush to finish it because they aren't close . No one actually knows for sure. Like fallout 76 and Anthem.

        • +1

I can't believe people are negging this. What is wrong with this community?

        • +2

Unfortunately they've gone into crunch / overtime mode.

  • Of course I pre-ordered the One Punch Man game a few days ago using my McDonalds $20 off coupon…

    • +1

Try live chat and see if they will honour an additional $5 credit to the order or your account, they're generally pretty good in that regard.

  • Do the pc games use steam as a DRM?

    • +2

Cyberpunk 2077 should be DRM-free on their awesome GOG platform like Witcher 3.

Doom Eternal is the only other PC title and most likely will be Steam-based unless Epic Games pulls another dirty.

      • Having played id Software games since the 90's, it'd feel weird having one of their titles exclusive to an Epic Games platform. Same as I still find it odd to see Sega on Nintendo consoles.

      • Unfortunately Bethesda have their own shitty platform now too. Just like Rage 2, Doom Eternal will be a Bethesda.net key in the box. It's available on Steam but you have to buy it there directly for $99.. even digital key resellers like GMG only provide bethesda.net launcher keys.

    • Not a bad question. Cyberpunk is on Epic and Steam but I'm only assuming you're paying for a steam key.

      • It wouldn't be Steam, most likely GOG.

    • For most games, yes.
If it's an Epic Games Exclusive, then it will have Epic Games DRM.
However, looks like Cyberpunk 2077 has a GOG key in it, which rarely happens.

    • +1

Cyberpunk 2077 has been confirmed to have a GOG key inside, not steam or epic.

  • Thanks muchly OP, cancelled my existing pre-order with Amazon for Cyber Punk - and got the additional 5 bucks off. Winning!

  • -3

What if they go out of business before the game is released? (J/k)

    • Well you wouldn't lose anything anyway.

      • +2

Yeah Amazon don't charge you til shipping date normally.

  • Thanks for the heads up OP, preordered RE3 for me & Lego Star Wars for the kids.

    • +1

If you instead Preorder RE3 on the very last day of this promo (3rd Feb) you'll be able to qualify for cashback since it is exactly 60 days from the release date!

  • Thanks OP! Just saved myself $10!

  • +2

A Q. for those who've preordered from Amazon in the past.. what's their success rate at getting the game to you on time? Since I live in Perth I'm worried that if they dispatch on the 'usual' day, I'll receive the game later than those in the east.

    • I can only speak for Sydney and using a parcel locker in the CBD, they deliver on release day every time without issue. Makes it perfect to pick up on the way home after work for the weekend.

      • Which shipping option did you choose?

        • Cyberpunk 2077:

FREE Prime Delivery —get it on its release day: September 17.
Estimated Delivery: Sep 17, 2020 (the day it's released)

          Doom Eternal:

FREE Prime Delivery —get it on its release day: March 20.
Estimated Delivery: Mar 20, 2020 (the day it's released)

      • Do you put the parcel locker address when you order?

        • +1

Yes, have it saved as primary address for most orders (2-3 a week).

    • I've seen some comments about some pre-orders from last year and it was hit and miss.
I think there was even one game that was released on a Friday and so people didn't see their copies until Monday/Tuesday from Amazon.

If you really care about playing on release day, just pony up the extra $5 and buy it from JB Hi-Fi or Target who usually have good deals for games on release and are what Amazon will price match.

    • I'm not in Perth so I can't help you there, but the success rate for me has been most of the time. I've only had 2 preorders not arrive on release day, and they were both more obscure titles, so there might've been some issues with distribution.

All the AAA/major releases I've pre-ordered have arrived on or before the release date.

    • I'm 2/4 so far (in Sydney). Most recent being Star Wars Fallen Order.

    • +1

I'm in Perth and I've never had a release date delivery from them, even with Prime pre-orders. From memory, Jedi Fallen Order was a Friday release that got delivered on a Sunday, and Death Stranding another Friday release that only came on Monday.

The only place I've found reliable for release date deliveries is JB HiFi if you go with their $3.50 express postage option.

    • I am on the sunshine coast in Queensland and every game I have preordered from amazon, over a dozen, I have received either before the release date or on the release date.

    • In Melbourne, my copy of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot came a day before release
However, my copy of Jump Force came on release day.
      It depends on the game.

    • If they guarantee release day to you, you should get it on the day, probably shipped by express. If it arrives late, have a whinge & they usually give you some credit or refund postage if you don't have Prime.

I live in Melbourne & ordered Jedi Fallen Order from Amazon. Even though the Melbourne warehouse is like 15mins away, for some reason it got shipped from Sydney. Of course it arrived the Monday after. Not only did I get a $5 Prime bonus, also got an extra $5 credit due to it arriving late.

    • I must be one of the unlucky ones as I preordered two games from Amazon and didn't get either on launch day on Friday.

      Got it the Monday after.

    • Have recieved all Amazon preorders on morning if release with exception to Pokemon, and for that one I complained and got an additional $5 refund from Amazon for the delay.

      • What do you usually say to them? How would you word it? Preparing myself in true Ozbargain spirit in case I dont get it on day 1 ;)
Especially since I'm buying a multiplayer game, singleplayer games I dont care if its delayed

        • Just say you needed it for a present or something & it was an inconvenience.

          • @Dreamcazman: No need to lie. Simple say it was displayed as guaranteed delivery on this date (which is why you ordered from Amazon) and it hasn't arrived. They'll generally respond with a credit.

        • Just tell them you expected it on release day, and it didn't get to you on release day.

If you did what they say on the page, you won't have issues. You likely won't have issues anyway - Amazon are great when it's sold and shipped by Amazon AU. It's the third party sellers on the marketplace that are troublesome.

Want it delivered the day it's released?
Choose FREE Expedited Delivery at checkout.

    • I've gotten all of my games on release day (living in Melbourne metro btw).

Only one of them came late, a little bit frustrating but at the end of the day they've delivered it on time every other time.

  • +1

Thanks OP, buying ff7 remake…though its a shame that it is not the version that includes chocobo summon.

    Don't forget cashback!!

    • FF7R got delayed so no cashback on that one unfortunately :(

    • Not sure why Amazon haven't updated the delayed release date yet but the game now comes out on 10th April. Which means the earliest you can order the game is 10th Feb if you want to qualify for cashback. This promo would have expired by then :(

Still, if you had to pick one, this $5 discount is better than the measly 3.5% cashback you'd get normally. That is unless the rate gets boosted at some point.

    • Just spoke to the Amazon live chat, it does come with the chocobo summon btw :)

      • +1

ehh… it is?? thanks for the great info, preordering it now!!

        • You're welcome!

  • Just cancelled and reordered Cyberpunk 2077 for PC. Pity they don't have a listing for Vampire Bloodlines 2, only have it for consoles.

    • -2

You don't need to cancel. The $5 will be deducted when the item is checked out prior to being shipped

      • If not, just ask them for it. I got the credit for my Sword and Shield pre-order that didn't have the $5 bonus originally.

      • +2

i dont think this is true.
if you havnt ordered the item while the $5 off promo was active then im pretty sure you will not get the $5 off discount.

the checkout happens when you order the itemfrom your cart.
the actual money is taken out when it is about to be shipped.
at that. stage they deduct the order total or fcurrent price is lower the current price.
the current price is considered to b listed price not priceafter any offers running.

        correct me if im wrong

  • Great was about to pre order

Does Cashback work with pre orders?

    • +2

Only if the game is going to be released within the next 60 days.

  • Dang no Nioh 2 :(

  • +1

Sweet, hope Star Citizen is eligible!

  • Does Doom: Eternal for PS4 come with Doom64 as a preorder bonus like with JB and EB when ordering from Amazon AU? Most news articles mention it comes with all versions but the there's no mention of it unlike those other stores.

  • Cashrewards? Currently 12%

    • It's 3.5% for games.

  • +2

Thanks, preordered pokemon mystery dungeon dx 😊

    • +2

Can't wait to re-live all those nights I spent playing Red Rescue Team as a kid!
