revenol 10/60 oil for BMW318i 2005 Model

Hi

My mechanic recommended me to use revenol 10/60 oil for my BMW 2004 Sedan .He recomnded because it was blowing little too much smoke from tail gate. This problem went away with recent oil service as he used that oil. But i can't seem to find this oil in ACT

are there any alternatives?

Can i mix two brands ?

  • blowing little too much smoke from tail gate.

From the tail gate? Good Lord…

And it's just 10w60 oil by the sounds of it. As engines get old, tired and worn out, you run thicker oil in them with the hope that it doesn't just blast past the seals and rings as a thinner oil would do.

Just search your local automotive shop, like Supercheap or Autobahn and just look for "10w60"

Or you could try contacting the distributor in ACT, Imparts, and see if they can tell you where to locate their product.

  • 10w60 oil is bloody expensive, and it's not going to stop 'smoke blowing' from the tailpipe. Get a 2nd opinion.

  • Not sure about 10/60 in the ACT in winter.

winter has nothing to do with the 60 weight when hot

  • 60 weight oil will only do 2 things….

    1) mask your obvious valve stem issues
    2) reduce oil flow through the engine, causing further issues

    • Any alternative solution?

        1. Use the correct weight oil and blow some smoke and keep topping it up
        2. Fix the issue that is causing the oil use
  • Castrol do a 10W-60 but not cheap or you can rock up to Rolfe and pick up the factory 10W-60 if you're desperate.

    I'd try 10W-40 before anything this drastic…
