What Is The Cheapest Way to Get 2 Adult Return Tickets Ex SYD to Bali in June?

I have not yet booked this as I would like advice beforehand.
Plan is to travel to Bali on Qantas from Sydney on 18-30 June 2020.
I signed up for the Amex Qantas card and have received the 100k sign up bonus points. I also have the $450 Qantas travel credit.
For this trip I would like my husband and I to fly to Bali business class return.
I recently saw a deal on OzB "Convert Credit Card Points to Asia Miles and Get a 10% Bonus" which I was planning to do with the AMEX points.
I have 40,000 CBA Award points which I was thinking about converting over ($30 fee) and have about 5k QFF currently in my account.
Husband is not in a position to apply for another credit card (within 12 months for Amex)
How can I book the flights by maximising the value of the points we have and contributing limited $ to the booking.
TIA

So much work. You will definitely need a holiday.

sounds like the plot to an eps. of 24.

      So much work

Thats why they want someone else to spoon feed them on what to do.

  • Obviously looking for a free holiday. Most surf spots let you sleep in their warungs free if you buy food from them too.

  • Asiamiles is a lousy program. If your 100K points are Qantas points, don't you already have enough for two return flights to Bali on Qantas?

they want business class, because… you know, they wanna feel rich on their way to… Bali.

    • I've got 100k AMEX points. Just wasn't sure if it was best to convert them to Asia Miles or QFF.
Then just need to consider if it's worth paying to the economy fair and using points to upgrade or use points+cash for business tickets.

chances of getting upgrade from economy to business using points only without status are virtually zero

You really should be paying for the complexity of the issue you're presenting. Maybe KPMG or PWC have a pro bono division to help you out.

  • Going to Bali business class is like getting Port Power membership with full set of teeth?;)

      or Collingwood

    my personal opinion,

since bali is a short fight from syd, 6hrs, business class you cant appreciate it as much as long haul
and dont bother with business class of a low cost carrier like jetstar, its terrible value,
For 6 hours, its almost, sit down, fly off, settle in, have something to eat, and then its time to get off

just fly the cheapest seat to bali, save your points and fly to europe or america in business class

    • thanks. have heard similar feedback about Jetstar business class etc.
Will use Qantas credit towards the flights then. Can't do much else with them.

This may not be relevant for the use of your points, however you can make good savings by putting other airlines less ideal flight times up against Jetstar’s more ideal flight times with their Price Beat Guarantee

I recently booked my return flights from MEL to DPS in June for around $350 return by price beating Malindo Air’s current sale of $389 return fares. It’s important to note the flight times for the the Jetstar flights are much more ideal flight times (leaving early, not arriving late). The equivalent Jetstar flight was around $920 making a saving of ~$570.

Thanks for that! I was just about to book Malindo Air and was looking at their cost for luggage. Brought the total to $1400. Better off booking Virgin.
I might just do the price beat with Jestar. Also have access to 5% off gift vouchers!
