Probably not the cheapest but a great price under $1000 for East Coast Australia to West Coast USA, booking direct with a full service airline (includes meals, bags etc.). Approx $100 more expensive to fly from Adelaide or Perth doesn't seem unreasonable for return either.

Similar prices with AA, which is beneficial if you wanna go further than LA/SFO (adding on extra flights in US is cheaper with AA). Literally same flights though (Qantas ticketed as AA).
