What to Do with Used AA Mouse Batteries?

so Ive got a ever accumulating mini box of used AA batteries from my mouse,

it seems that the mouse uses more power than most devices, so all these used batteries work on wall clocks and remotes,

But there is so many wall clocks and remotes to put them in

what or how else could I use them?

    recycle them at aldi

    • so aldi have like a drop off box for batteries?? ive never seen it before, maybe its hidden,

      • Usually near the checkout, next to where people pack their stuff

        • thanks will go and drop it off

modern Logitech mouse should have battery life of 2-3years

Battery on Logitech mouse last about 3 years (based on experience). but normal wireless mouse will use up the battery in 6 months or less.

    • Mine lasts about 6 - 9 months on Duracells which is what work supplies. Old batteries get dropped off at Aldi as has been mentioned though their tiny collection bin is usually over flowing.

Offer them to friends and family who have clocks and remotes.

Sounds like you've got a really power inefficient mouse.
I would get a better mouse or rechargeable batteries.

accumulating mini box of used AA batteries from my mouse

Christ. I use my mouse all day, every day for hours and I cant even remember the last time I replaced a battery in it. I think it's still on the original battery that came included with it, and it would be 3 or so years old, and you have a box full of batteries from your mouse?

Hand the batteries into your local electronics recycle place (your local council might offer this service) and see if they will take them, then go out and buy yourself a USB rechargeable mouse like the Logitech MX Master 2S or MX Anywhere 2S.

My local library now has a e-waste bins for recycling batteries and also computer-y things, cables etc.

Use rechargeable, save money and environmentally friendly.

Surprised single use batteries are not banned, lot of toxic heavy metal waste.

Why are you not using rechargeables for this?

    And buy more clocks, obviously…

  • Now if you were female, I'm sure you could find a use for AAs…

  • Put them in the bin. Start buying rechargeables.

send them to Greta! Seriously they have half male mice with one ball, needs rolling but never needs batteries. Use finger on pad, get voice control. Start a get up campaign that babies have become bigger and so should batteries to compensate for shrinking brains.

  • If you were a real ozbargainer you'd have a rolling stock of eneloops… :D

  • you guys are right, ive been buyign a few cheaper batteries, eg bunnings varta, everready,
and I thought mayge thas why I only get about a few weeks of use,

I just opened a new pack of everready ones and theyre all empty,

and my mouse is a microsoft

ive found a few rechargeable energisers and a charger so will give that a go!

    • I would have guessed it was an original Apple Magic Mouse. Those suck batteries like they're on a mission.

      • its a MS wireless mouse 4000

its probably about 5 years old, I only use it about an hour a day,

I suspect the batteries I use are crappy because I get them cheap
