I swear transformers didn't use to be this… plasticky. All the details are so rounded.

    • It turns into a rocket and a loop of road. Can't really hide too much of the roundness.

    • Lower demand for toys + increased labour costs

Least they look more like the cartoons. Remember the G1 ironhide toy?

PS: Nice username, astrotrain was my fav transformer toy I had as a kid

        • I liked Astrotrain's voice best.

    • The new gen transformers look way better and are more articulate (better for posing) than the gen1s - albeit being mostly plastic.
They actually look like the cartoon.

Takara make fantastic looking toys followed by Hasbro.

  • OG one used to take batteries and walk, i remember having it when i was a kid

The quality of Transformers toys has gone downhill a lot. This still isn't the largest transformer.

Huh? The siege line is probably the best normal priced line ever. Lots of articulation, accessories, likeness to robot and vehicle, paint, just overall quality.

And why would they make this the largest transformer when they have Metroplex that came out not too long ago and Unicron in the future which are both actually taller characters.

    • Upvoting this. We have a son who is just getting into them, so he got a few for Christmas. Every single one of them has broken in some way since Christmas. They feel very flimsy and cheap, not at all like the ones I had as a kid which I could play robustly with.

    • Yup. Waiting for Amazon to stock the Haslabs Unicron.

  • Had the original as a kid. Sold it at a flea market for $15 :(
