  • $20 more than the historical low, but still a great price for an epic set.

    • +1

      That's a $119 difference there ;)

      Not good methmatics

      • +1

Indeed. I swear I typed a one there.

Its actually $120 more but I don't think many peope actually got one at that price as it sold out so quick.

I would prefer a better deal than 20% but every time Myer, DJ's etc have a sale they are out of stock of this set so I just bit the bullet and bought it.

Really? I'm sure it was available for at least a couple of days. I found out about it early and posted it on a Facebook group and two days later, people were still mentioning they had just managed to snag the deal. Two days is an eternity in ozbargain time

        • +1

Yeh I definitely got one and didn't get on it super early.

          • @zductiv: How much you ended up paying including GST and import tax?

    • +2

and for bargain lovers looking for an even cheaper option, this old coupon code is still working so brings the price down to $499.98, then you apply the cashback of 5.6% for additional saving of $27.99. Brings the price down $471.99 after cash back for a total discount of $278.01.

*** props to Amar98 and Bluehj88 for gifting me an awesome first post ***

  • Wow, I'm pretty sure I saw the Liebherr this morning in DJ online sale. Must be really popular set (or they only have limited stock)

    • I had it in my "bag" on the Djs web site at about 430 this morning ($565 before delivery) but didn't pull the trigger.

    • It's popular because it contains a tonne of the new control + motor components

  • +2

    Still too high!

    • Yep. Patience will get you this sub $500.

      • This will be retired soon?

        • It was only released recently.

If I buy this will I ever have sex again? (with someone other than myself)

    • +13

Yes. Its not Star Wars Lego.

Worst case scenario you can use it it to dig up a corpse for some sexy time ;)

      • +5

        Woah that escalated quickly!

        • +1

          Better pun: that descended quickly!

      • +1

Yes. Its not Star Wars Lego.

Nah, the Lego City/Creator themes are the bastions of the incels. They inevitably lead to having an entire Lego display city taking up a spare room and from there, it's a downward spiral of brick-based, self-abuse.

Remember kids, say no to "Gateway" Lego sets. Choose the path of Technic, so you can at least learn some basic physics and mechanical engineering principles.

    • Again?

    • Its lego, use your imagination

    • If you can afford to drop that kind of money on lego, you can afford a whore.

  • +5

    Don't buy….save heaps……..Bargain.

    • +2

Buy… sell for more…. make money…. spend that money on bargains… bargain.

  • Can't remember Lego were that expensive when I was a child haha!

    • +7

That's because your parents only bought you the crappy $20 dollar sets.

      • +1

That's because there'll probably only one generation ever grow up with lego, the next hot lego sets will probably be lawn bowl and nursing home kits.

      • true, but $600 for some Lego o_O

  • Plus cashback reward of 5.6% ($33.59944, okay okay it is $33.60), hence - $565.40

    • My email from cash rewards said $17.

Update: This is correct. Cash back is 3.5% for toys.

Currently building this set and I have not finished so I don't have an opinion yet.

One thing I don't like about it as that for whatever reason LEGO decided to separate all parts into 5 sets of bags instead of 10-12 like they usually do with big sets like this one. So you end up with 5-6 bags for every number (set of bags).

Obviously, it all depends on your pace but personally I find it about annoying because I prefer to spend 1-1.5 hours per set instead of 2-2.5 hours like with this one.

    • …I find it about annoying…

      It's approximately annoying?

      • +1

Sorry, I meant "a bit annoying".

  • This or 16TB drive?
    This or Apple Watch 5?

    • +3

Why stress? Get all 3. You will eventually anyways…. right?

      • yeah :-(

  • Do you pay GST on this? I'm assuming it's delivered from overseas.

    • +2

      Chat advised GST is additional

      • +1

When do you pay GST? Do you pay it to Customs after the parcel arrives in Australia?

I’m guessing customs would demand import tax too. So if you pay $500, you would pay $50 GST and around $27 for import tax. Cash back is about $17. The total would be about $560.

I cancelled my order. It will be cheaper than $560 soon enough.

        • Import tax? Thank you for mentioning that.I wasn't aware of that. Not worth the trouble
Wait for local prices to drop.
US prices are very high too

  • I need this for reasons.

  • I have been looking to buy my first technic set for quite some time now. But I reckon this would be technical overkill and price overkill. The simpler mack anthem technic might suffice.

I'm so happy to live in a country where the people call it lego, singular, I would go postal otherwise.
