M.2 2280 SATA SSD - WD Green 480GB $69, Crucial MX500 500GB $89 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Umart

170

Some pretty good prices on those small m.2 kind of form factors, These are great to put into laptops that support them, either upgrading a mechanical disk for a new life or adding it for more storage space.

    These are sata not nvme.

    • Good point, some laptops use this. Most of the newest stuff uses nvme

  • the lexar nm610 500gb is NVMe drive. I bought 2 from shallhead eBay for $172 last week.

    • How's the Lexar. I was tempted on one but I read a bit on them and seems the Crucial is still better for things like gaming…

For gaming it’s basically the loading time. You must be holding a timer to tell the difference.

      • I have the crucial 500gb. Everything loads super fast but like everyone says, it's not a particularly noticeable in comparison to non nvme. It's also not great for professional use due to the speed throttling when transferring over 50gb of files at a time. I mainly got it because it was cheap and to save my sata slots for ssds. In comparison to other nvme, for general purpose use, speed difference and even life span, I've found most reviewers says to just go with the cheapest.

        • Yea i had to choose between a Lexar and crucial. Went with a 2.5 crucial and wanted to look at a samsung nvme but seems they all the same about. Read something about caching on the lexar not being as good. I honestly don't k ow if this has any impacts. I would agree that if you do loads of transfers then nvme is better else nah.. hehe

  • Hmm a couple of 480s for my NAS cache….

  • will these fit the 15inch 2012 MacBook Pro RETINA

  • $69 plus the price of a USB enclosure would make very fast portable storage

  • Would the wd be compatible wirh a macbook air 2014 11"? I know the crucial isn't.
