stack with Coles 10% extra loading on DJ gift cards (expires Tuesday) + 4% cashback @ shopback =$717.03

    • +1

just be aware that DJ's takes a maximum of 5 giftcards per order…so make sure if you're buying giftcards to take advantage of this, need to buy high-denomination ones to take full advantage of the discounted giftcards.

    • +1

How do you get the gift card with 10% discount

      • Was interested as well, found out: the current coles catalog advertises 10% "bonus" value when you purchase a david jones gift card.
Offer valid from 22/01 - 28/01, in store only.

      • +2

Technically i think it's closer to 9.09% discount as you're getting 10% extra rather than paying 90% of the value you're getting.

Cracking price for all the grey bricks you'll ever need

    • +6

And, once built, never used for anything else.

      • +6

        Not quite.
I have a lot more respect, after I watched the Megafactories: LEGO doco.

@edfoo: Then why bother? They were neither funny nor accurate.

          • -1

@edfoo: You forgot about the 25c

            :)

      • +2

The design would cost so much money to produce, the plastic is high quality! Not to mention it's produced in Denmark

      Isn't it "gray"?

      • +3

Both are fine. Gray is typically more American, grey being more common for British English locales such us Australia.

        • +1

True but gray makes more logical sense. Easier for children and foreigners to learn too. After all, we say "say" and not "sey", stay, not stey, lay and not ley, etc.

So much room for a non existent interior.

    • +1

The whole interior was used to reinforce the support for a stand

      • Err no it wasn't. There's heaps of space in there.
I don't think it needs an interior though - I think that would be weird given it is nowhere near minifigure scale.

  • -2

    But, why?

  • Recreate the one time in the trilogy when stormtroopers could shoot

    • Doesn’t come with stormtrooper minifigs though..

      • Yeah byo minifig and interiors

    So overpriced this set

    • -3

Every LEGO set with Star Wars theme is overpriced. You are paying for the franchise name.

    • +2

The common thought seems to be that this set is overpriced based on the ‘number of pieces’ compared to other sets .. so, it seems that the people who have this thought have failed to notice that many of the ‘pieces’ are much much larger than standard. It’s obviously not going to be a similar price per piece compared to other sets if the size of many pieces are 5 times or even 10 times standard. The comparative price makes complete sense when that part is considered. Plus the set is great.

      • No point arguing with a non-Lego enthusiast. They just wouldn’t understand nor comprehend why someone would spend so much on some ‘plastic’. Just buy a few sets I’d say, one to build and another to ‘invest’.

        • If you are a true Lego star wars fan you need this set as well the UCS millennium Falcon

          • @RetroMetro: sure, let me just re-mortgage my house

        • +1

No point arguing with a non-Lego enthusiast.

That goes for any 'non-essential' items with an enthusiast community behind it. I think any standard-sized car over $45k is a rip-off, but I'm not an auto-enthusiast.

Does this come with a Death Star laser beam? Lol

    • I don't get it

  • 75 cents? You some of a bitch, I’m in!

Tag says for kids but we all know it's not for kids 😂

    • We're all someone's kid!

  • Bought the Bugatti from DJs with the 25%, just got an email that they couldn't fulfil the order. Don't get your hopes up.

    • +1

That's a bloody outrage that is

      • ikr… 0 compensation.. like it wasn't a pricing error or anything.. they could've just waited for a restock and then send it out to me because I'm in no rush but they just cancelled my order. Already placed a wordy complaint, hope they reply

        • +1

          spoiler alert: they won't

    • That was only available for click+collect right? I was interested in that when the sale started but no stores near me had stock for click+collect

      • yah pretty much.. I was lucky enough to have a few stores around me that i was able to collect.. should've chose the bigger store..

        • +2

Sorry to hear mate, hate it when either myer/DJs does this when they have their sales and can't fulfil the orders

        • If it was a model of the Orca, I'd say you'd be right

  • +2

Dam, the money people pay for toy eh..

    • +4

It's not a toy its a display ship.

Same amount a pack-per-week smoker spends in a year. Seems like much better value to me.

      • +2

A pack per week smoker would spend MUCH more than $800 on durries in a year.

  • Those who are buying thinking it will go up in value - Don’t do it. U have been warned…

  • Someone needs to buy sets like this and lease them out. Most people just enjoy the build…

    • Cost to take the pieces apart?

  • +1

The number of exposed studs on this model really hurts the eye. Looks like a 90s set. I've seen much better MOCs although potentially higher parts count.

    • I agree with you but that's really easy to remedy on the Star Destroyer as most of the exterior studded plates can be replaced with large tiles, since they're only one layer deep in most sections and non-structural. It'd probably cost you less than $20 dollars ordering the requisite amount of tiles from Pick-A-Brick or BrickLink.
