How much savings on each lens? Otherwise it's just advertising.

  • Sigma 50 F1.4 EX DG $425 << Good price.

      • +2

they have 2 years warranty from sigma but the one you posted only 12 months.

        • +1

How often has a lens failed due a manufacturing defect between 1 and 2 years of use? Remember, warranty does not cover misuse or mishandling.

    • For $50-100 more you can get a genuine Canon one though.

      • I have the Canon one, PQ better but the mini USM really annoying. Fixed for 3 three times for a year.

      • +3

The canon version has harsher Bokeh and the IQ is not as great.

        • Seriously?? I'll agree the 1.8 is sub-par but the 1.4 is great. I use it predominantly for gig photography and the bokeh is fine.

        • Ferretallica.

You don't have a point of comparison, as a result that you see is what you know. I've tried all of them.

My 50 1.2L vs the Sigma 50 1.4 for bokeh is almost similar @ f1.4… just that the 1.2 does have a little more "cream" to it. :)

        • Gig photography isn't the most telling subject for bokeh, either.

Pretty much the only downside to the Sigma is that it weighs more, which can be a bad thing, depending on which body it's mounted on.

Anyone who has used both knows the Sigma 50 leaves the Canon one for dead.

been looking for this, but hard to get shipping costs out of them

    • Was gonna say those are grey imports but it turns out even the Australian stock on shopbot is slightly cheaper.

  • +2

The problem with buying Sigma stuff is that it's always cheaper to buy direct from CRK as they price match grey imports of Sigma gear, which is better than both local and grey at the same time.

  • seem to be their normal prices…

    so this is just advertising…

  • cheaper on ebay….

  • +4

CR Kennedy will match import pricing which is a lot cheaper than this, as well as providing full Australian warranty.

    • Good to know! Thanks mate! :)

    • How do you arrange the price match? Do you contact CR Kennedy directly?

      • hi. can you show us how to do the price match ? i knwo that eglobaldigcam is cheap but their shipping is high. will CKR match the price only or add the shipping cost aswell (from other shop)?
for example, lens A at CKR is $500 , at eglobal $300 + $100 shipping, will CKR sell it at$300 or $400 ?
        thanks

        • CRK adds shipping
even if u pickup from them

        • Shipping is obviously part of the cost of getting the goods, so of course they add it when looking at the total price of the goods.

  • Agree with others. Cheaper aussie stock available. No bargain!

what the hell is a Sigma <insert numbers> camera lens?

    • a lense for a SLR camera, allows you to have different zooms, etc… if you go to one of the numorous links you'll see pics! its a aftermarket lens, DSLRs really nice using a number of lense… helps you take better pics…

    • +1

It's Sigma [brand obviously] 30 [zoom level in mm, in this case it's a fixed lens] F1.4 [lowest stop avaliable, lower stop = more open aperture = more light let in] EX DC [model type ie. full frame/cropped]

  • I think some of the prices are good considering it is Australian Stock with Australian warranty

  • -2

    Not available in alpha mount.

    • +5

      not a reason to neg?

  • I remember the days when a Sigma lens was heaps cheaper than "genuine".

They were a "budget choice" - What happened?

    • Have you seen the price of a Genuine Canon 70-200 F2.8 .

  • +2

These are good prices for Aussie Stock. You will find anyone selling at this price is ex-Hong Kong. CR Kennedy will price match and .com.au we price with local stock but if these guys are doing that any way, might as well support them.

Over the last 12m I have bought the Sigma 30 1.4, the 50 1.4, the 10-20 4-5.6, the 17-50 2.8 OS and the 150-500 all through the price match system using http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/lenses/sigma-lenses.… as my pricing.

Great lenses on my Canon 40d by the way.

  • I am not affiliated with them but I have used them for multiple purchases because they are just so great to deal with. They are a genuine australian dealer and so you get the long warranty which I feel is important with buying brand new third party lenses. I have also price matched CRK with them and had them send out one of their stock first instead of waiting for the price matched one to arrive from CRK which is usually the case.

I may be biased but the best thing about them is that you can always pay them a visit if you're in the area to test out the lenses they have on display! I have recommended them to many friends and all have been happy with their service. Also, they remembered me when I came back!

  • Hey, CameraPro is there any discount code for OZBargainers? It will make more greens.

  • Regarding price matching on grey market, C.R.Kennedy generally honor this via their authorised dealer network, so we would welcome any requests on this and do our best to assist.
Please note [as other posters have pointed out], that they will add shipping costs, and also in most cases GST as well [given that Australian prices will include GST, overseas won't]. The final "price" is determined by C.R.Kennedy, not ourselves.
Please drop in, email or call our store and we will do our best to facilitate. We have plenty in stock for anybody wanting to test one before collecting.

We will definitely take on board you suggestions of an OZBargain members discount code, and see if we cant incorporate this in the future :)

  • Sorry, "Plenty of stock" was referring to 50mm F1.4 and 30mm F1.4 in Canon and Nikon mounts - as was the topic of most threads. Other items in stock in main mounts as well, albeit in varying and in some cases limited quantities.
