I drew the line at $2200, once it hits that I think the price difference is worth it over the C9.

      • What's the difference? I thought it was mostly just improved audio which might not add value to most setups.

TLDR: The biggest difference is in HDR Peak Brightness, and some build quality. Honestly the rest is very minor. Performance differences were bigger before, but the latest firmware updates have closed the gap significantly.

        • +2

HDR peak brightness, CPU, 1 tuner vs 2, calibration out of the box, HDR gradients. And this may help others, but I sold my soundbar as the C9 sounded better than my soundbar.

          • @onlinepred: I can't find any deals about 2nd turner in C9.
Is it supposed to be capable of PiP?

            • +1

              @SickDmith: I don't know about PIP, I think it's for recording. I don't watch live TV

            • +1

@SickDmith: Only one tuner is stupid! You need two to be able to record and watch at the same time.

          • @onlinepred: Sold. Buying one ASAP!

@monkeydoo0: For reference, I had a Phillips HTL9100. The C9 blows it away. I have it mounted on the wall, which MAY affect sound. There is no where near the bass you get from a sub, but I have not missed a sub at all as I prefer more accurate bass over muddy boomy bass. Music, movies and TV shows all sound really great. The key thing is though, I had to turn off all the ATMOS crap off as it made it sound terrible trying to replicate ATMOS through software, which never ends well.

  • Where's the c9?

  • Great value! It's good seeing it at these price values.

I imagine the 2020 panels will bring even the C9 down eventually during this year, Making the B9 (released 2018? maybe earlier) become even older and out of date than it was before.

B9 is 2019 release…you can get it from the last digit of the model number

    • +4

B9 was released in November 2019.

      • Nah - early 2019. That's the LG product release cycle - show at CES in January, release 1-2 months later.

        • +2

In Australia, the B series is released late in the year. Probably so it doesn't cannibalise C series sales.

        • +2

Yikes - what an idiot I am. B9 came out in October.

That's what you get for making assumptions! Sorry aja12

@Hypnotoad: All good, at least you didn’t neg my comment like someone else did :)

@Hypnotoad: Came out in October and Goodguys have it on clearance and say they're not getting it anymore?

Had a bad experience with B7 panels. It has shown permanent screen-burn despite normal usage and no gaming. Mine was luckily under warranty at that time and got it replaced for free of charge. Never had peace of mind watching TV since then. Hopefully newer panels are better.

I must admit, picture quality is extraordinary.

    • I am using B7 from mid 2018, so far so good. Hopefully nothing will be happened. :D

    • I have a B6, no burn in luckily. Have seen it temporarily, but running the screen clear noise utility fixes it. No gaming either.

  • 11.50am already out of stock :(

    • Went out of stock just as I was logging in to eBay. Feels bad, needed a bit of retail therapy getting back to the office after the long weekend.

    • VideoPro has it for nearly the same price - $1523 plus delivery

Is the G-Sync/120 Hz update available on this model in Australia?

    • -4

No, but it has VRR support, so you can just flip it on.

What neither the C9 or B9 support is 4k 120Hz via HDMI 2.0.

      • Can confirm the C9 does have "G-Sync Compatible" support.

CX can only do 4:2:0 (8 bit and no HDR) with HDMI 2.0 though.
4K@120 isn't really possible with most current GPU's (with HDMI 2.0) now anyway, unless you're running lower settings.

        • This is a B9, and I have absolutely no idea why my comment is getting downvoted when the only questionable thing I wrote about was GSync compatibility support (which is a formality, not a requirement).

    • +1

Yes, does have it. Just received update a week or 2 ago. I have this tv and can confirm 120hz, don't know what Jasswolf is talking about. Has HDMI 2.1 on all ports

      • No 2019 LG OLED supports 4k 120Hz via HDMI 2.0. They have HDMI 2.1 ports, but it won't let you get near that if it falls back to HDMI 2.0b (ie. every device anyone will be connecting with it until 6 months from now).

I was wrong about the B9 getting GSync compatibility support, but that's because it wasn't initially announced along with the C and E series.

The 2020 models do support 4k120Hz via HDMI 2.0, which provides an option for those who aren't upgrading their GPU or device chain anytime soon.

        • +1

My bad I think the wording confused me a little bit. Yes the CX does support 4k 120hz at 4:2:0 8-bit with no HDR as elli0t mentioned. Can't wait for next gen consoles to take advantage of HDMI 2.1! Must say though, VRR and HDR didn't like each other on my Xbox one X until I changed to a HDMI 2.1 cable which makes no sense to me.

          • +1

@nodeahs: Depends on the state of the cable and its maximum bandwidth.

  • Couldn't hold off a new TV any longer - the trusty Sammy plasma has developed blue and purple splotches, so picked up the 55 C9 from this deal for $1840. Thanks!
