[VIC] Learn to Play Roller Derby for Free on Feb 2 @ Kingston City Rollers, Keysborough

60

Kingston City Rollers is a not for profit association that trains professional roller derby players. They are hosting a 'Learn, Try, Join' session this Sunday to teach roller derby to everyone interested.

The evenings training is divided into three stages:

-Learn about roller derby, where, and how to play, any costs, training days and dates, times, various clubs, and some history, etc.

-Try skating, get an afternoons free coaching, try on some gear and see what fits best so you don't have to go buy your own gear. Try some basic drills and cut some laps. Have fun being a 'roller derby-er' for a day. Take selfies, eat cupcakes (there's usually cupcakes*).

-Join the club (optional). Ideally you join the 'Rookies' program and continue training for another 16 weeks. The first month of which is also free skating, but there is a $25 fee for insurance IF you do continue.

Address: Springers Leisure Centre, 400 Cheltenham Road, Keysborough, Victoria
Sunday, 2 February 2020 from 17:00-19:30

      • This deal may be more appropriate in the forums.

        • I'm not sure if it should be a deal or a freebie.

  • Did they win a govt grant?

    • nope. They run this for free every year, the training staff volunteer their time.

Someone should watch Jacob Heppner’s video on trying roller derby. Look it up on YouTube. It ain’t easy!

  • Good way to pick up girls. If you’re a girl.
