Skull N Co Jumpgate for Nintendo Switch US $39 ~AU $62

60

There is a promo atm for anyone looking for a portable dock for the Switch…

This thing can also plug nicely to any laptops which can provide up to 4K display at 30fps and 100W USB-PD.

I ordered but haven't got a chance to test them out but the reviews seems good.

They also guarantee that it won't brick your Switch but a bit unclear with the process of replacing your Switch if does become bricked.

As a display dock, this does not deliver 4k 60fps unlike those MacBook docks that can use 2 simultaneous USB-C port.

Good dock, works well. Spring mechanism is a bit flaky, so the top cover can get jammed if the spring is not pressed precisely - make sure to press evenly in the middle to raise/lower the top. (A bit annoying when it activates in your bag, so better to store it where it won’t get pressed!)

If you have no use for the CoreDrive (eg. laptop hub), then Gulikit portable dock kit is an alternative that looks pretty good. You can transplant an official dock into the shell if you’re worried about bricking, or get the one with Gulikit’s own board in it (not sure how safe). I would buy the Gulikit one, but I already have a JumpGate, one of those cheap generic portable dock shells (haven’t transplanted yet), AND a Genki Covert Dock on the way…so II probably don’t need any more docks! lol :)

    • Probably still good if connected to the Jumpgate without the dock so at least you don't need to deal with the flaky spring?

      • You mean use the CoreDrive (dongle) without the JumpGate dock? Yeah, you could do that (if you’re happy to have the Switch lying face down/up on the table).

The spring mechanism jamming is actually caused by the sharp corners on the top cover. I pulled the top cover off of mine and rounded off the corners with an emery board and it doesn't seem to jam now.

      • Oh nice, will give it a go! Cheers.

This was posted last week in the grip post, I grabbed one then. I've been watching this for ages, if you need a power supply then go to target for a $20 official charger rather than US$20 for an unofficial charger from skull n co

The fact it touts it works with other devices ( the switch uses non standard usb pd specs), makes me think this is a risky thing to use with your switch

Been using mine for over a year and has been great so far.

  • Just received an email from them saying that deliveries will not be sent out until Feb 10 due to the government extending their holiday period until Feb 9 which totally has nothing to do with the Coronavirus, honestly.

    • It had that on the order page

  • Genki have just started shipping their covert dock.
I considered getting this then decided against it because genki’s version is also a wall charger.

I was considering going with the convert dock from Genki as well, but it's a touch steep at $75USD when I already have a suitable 60w USB-PD charger ready to go for my Switch and other USB-PD devices.

It would be a good buy if starting out fresh though.
