Sunbeam GrindFresh Coffee Grinder EM0440 $79.20 (Usually $99) @ Target

120

Good entry level grinder. Looks like they have already addressed the issues with the grind size (older models needed adding a shim to get finer grind) and the top burr being fixed to the top housing (ref. Coffee Snobs).
Not the cheapest it has been but still a pretty good deal.
It is online order only at Target but I was able to get Harvey Norman to price match and Click and Collect in store on the same day.
Here is the Harvey Norman link https://www.harveynorman.com.au/sunbeam-conical-burr-coffee-…
First OzBargain post!
Cheers!

A good grinder, owned one many years ago. It used to use identical burrs to the more expensive sunbeam Cafe series grinder which I also owned.

If your budget doesn't extend to the Breville Smart Grinder, this will be your next best choice at this price point.

    • Hi @ash2000 does it grind fine enough for an expreso without needing modification? the amazon reviews say it srays coffee everywhere and leaves some coffee inside, do you find that with yours? need a new grinder for the office!

The one that I got grinds fine enough for espresso at around no. 8-9 setting (they go from 0 to 25).
It does have the issue of high retention and grounds being statically charged as they come out, which makes them go everywhere. This morning I figured that I can avoid the later by using the supplied container and the silicone spout attachement to contain the grounds in addtion to doing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0Dh1W40ILY. For the retention you have to tap the grinder a bit after you are done grinding.

        • Awesome thanks, I love those James Hoffman coffee videos! Just wish the budget stretched a bit!

@seraphim2017: I gifted mine years ago, but it certainly ground fine enough for espresso using unpressurised baskets.

To manage the static I ground into the supplied container first and giving it a shake before pouring into the basket.

  • I've used one of these for over a year multiple times a day. Works well, although a bit noisy.

Mine grinds fine enough to make good espresso. Usually use 8 to 11/25 settings depending on freshness of coffee, any finer and the pour is to slow.

  • Copied from productreview.com,
    "The grind is too coarse
Recently brought an EM7100 coffee machine, and went back yesterday and purchased the EM0440 grinder. The grind is just coming out too coarse. On every setting, the grind is the same. I pulled it apart twice, and put it together again after reading some reviews. I cannot get the grind any finer. It will be getting returned to Harvey Norman. Extreamly disappointed."
