On first view i thought the price was $15 with coupon. Then i looked again.

  • Anyone have experience with the different types of blades for these grinders?
Doesn't look like these 'conical' types be sharpened very easily? Which blade types are favoured by those in the know?

Looks like these conical types would be particularly effective in breaking/grinding down coffee beans.
Though I suppose the 'blade' types may well turn the beans into as much as 'dust'… which may or may not create a better for end result for overall flavour of coffee?

Personally I like any tool/blade that can be sharpened many times over and re-used… 'waste not want not' as the saying goes!

I have only ever own 1 conical grinder. The em480. I've had it for 8 years, never missed a beat. I reckon the electronics would break longgg before the cone needs "sharpening" as long as you don't grind pebbles.

Get a conical grinder it's better for coffee than the blades

      • I appreciate that Punk'. Thanks for adding your thoughts on the matter.
Will definitely keep well in mind when I finally pull the trigger on one of these things.

The Breville Smart Grinder is a big improvement on that Sunbeam EM480.

        • I'm waiting for this one to break to get that one.

  • Ack, pulled the trigger on the earlier deal that didn't mention the coupon. I think this site has made me lazy!

  • Copied from productreview.com,
    "The grind is too coarse
Recently brought an EM7100 coffee machine, and went back yesterday and purchased the EM0440 grinder. The grind is just coming out too coarse. On every setting, the grind is the same. I pulled it apart twice, and put it together again after reading some reviews. I cannot get the grind any finer. It will be getting returned to Harvey Norman. Extreamly disappointed."

    • You can buy shims (little washers) that will easily fix this problem. Might be able to get them free direct from sunbeam.

  • now we're talking, much better than this
