Los Angeles Return Flying Virgin (and QANTAS for Syd) ex Bris $774, Syd $781, Melb $792 @ IWTF

1050

Sub $800 fares for return flights to LA is a great deal in my opinion. Prices seem to be available March-May, but check from your departure city for availability. Plenty of date/price examples in the main link, including fares from Hobart & Perth. Also found one QANTAS return fare ex Syd (21 Mar - 5 Apr), so they may match soon. Safe flights, and enjoy :)

Only a few years ago when the dollar was above parity return airfares to LAX were $1499 and HNL was $1199…now the economy and our dollar have tanked and so have US airfares along with a side order of coronavirus.

Few years ago? It was almost decade ago….

        • And we were getting $800 flights around that time as well.

Virgin is better than qantas, united and delta which goes to LA

      Don't make me laugh.

      • -2

        As above. HAHAHHAHA

      • Try united flight… you will fall in love with qantas as well.

I just came back from LA with virgin, I was really impressed with the space and service.

  • If it is a Sydney to LA return ticket, does Qantas allow me to hop from LA and not use the Sydney leg?

    • Sure, just don't rock up. Don't make a habit of it though, airlines will take action against people consistently doing this.

    • Check the fare class terms as I thought virgin has a no show fee.

    • +3

They'll cancel both flights if you miss the first leg.

    • +1

Nope. If you miss the flight your second sector will get canned.

    • +3

If you miss a flight then all subsequent fights on the reservation will be cancelled. You could skip the last flight on the reservation though.

    • You'll need to check fare conditions. Easiest way is to find the flight on ITA Matrix and check yourself manually.

If you just want one way, Hawaiian Airlines is usually cheaper than this (around $500)

Not to scare you, but we have cases in Australia as well, and you might be the unidentified one. Hold your cough back.

I'd think you should be more worried about the US influenza which had killed more than 10,000 people this season.

      • Nah but I'm not in the US so I'm cool

    • Must've missed that in my geography lesson about LA actually being in Mainland China.

      • You are funny

  • I'm more scared of getting killed over their political unrest and their crap gun laws

      In Cali? Lmao

      • +4

Especially in CA, apparently everything there is known to be a possible carcinogen.

          I noticed those signs too.

Kind of scary but I imagine we are facing the same risks here but they go unsaid.

          • @arcticmonkey: AFAIK Cali requires it to be labelled it it's even a slight risk (ie 1/100,000,000 even)

In other words, even the sun would need a label…

US dollar is really low and Asia is not safe because of Coronavirus threat.
Best to spend holiday in Australia and help our bush fire affected businesses.

Thanks OP. Has anyone looked into travel insurance and Coronavirus? I.e. are new bookings eligible or void for travel insurance? Genuinely interested.

    • To the guy or gal who down voted me:

It turns out many insurers wont cover against Corona for NEW travel insurance policies.

So dont you go promoting people to travel without them being fully informed now xx

My two-cents, don't go with QANTAS..

Crappy ground staff and delayed flights with little to no care on their behalf.

Just back from LA, wish I'd have chosen Virgin, was cheaper too!

    • Depends what cabin your in. I've found the Virgin Business Suite a slightly better product than Qantas Business, but economy it goes to Qantas in a knockout.

      • Must be subjective for economy, because I've personally found the opposite internationally to the US.
