I would get Mi 9 lite from Catch .. with NFC & B28

    • Why catch? It's cheaper at tobydeals.

      • With catch giftcards

Use code cart3 for 11.25 discount

  • It's almost EOL in terms of update though, given Android 10 is most likely last OS update and Pocophone crappy update schedule last 12 months. Still very snappy phone with very decent camera for the money.

      POCOPHONE X2 is out already

Very different beast from what I can tell (i.e. not flagship specs for low to mid-range pricing). I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the direction POCO is heading after spinning out of Xiaomi. Some interesting articles highlight this change in tact to be less spec/price focussed and more services/software focussed going forward.

software is what it is all about, without software it’s a brick. i have dumped more phones because of bad software and bad software support then i have because the hardware wasn’t up to the task.

even with cameras after a phone is released than can improve picture quality by software enhancements.

          • @garage sale: I don’t disagree with your sentiment around the importance of software but in the context of pocophone and the F1, I never found the software to be “bad” and was actually quite pleased with both the day 1 features/performance and the updates it received since launch (I bought it on launch in Singapore) vs my previous S7 Edge and Asus Zenfone Max.

My point in the context of the above comment on the new X2 was that the Poco F1 was awesome because it had flagship specs (SD845) but at a mid range price (sub $500). The X2 and the direction that Poco seem to be heading is no longer the flagship specs angle with decent software but maybe near flagship but better software.

      • Out in India. Not good for any other country due to network bands

    No NFC is a killer

    • i have NFC on my current phone and don't use it. What am I missing out on?

        Cardless Myki travel.
        Easy tap on card payments
        Headphones seamless pairing.
        blaa blaa blaaaa….

      • NFC is probably the biggest game changer for me in phones of all. I have not needed to carry my wallet on me for at least 2 years now, I just pay for everything using my phone. I don't know how I survived before NFC!

          You carried your wallet :D

  • Are TobyDeals back in business again after Chinese new year?

I'm still waiting for an order placed back in late Jan to be processed.

when phones hit over $300 there is no excuse for nfc. no band 28 on top of this. i would look else where

    • +1

When it was originally released, it was okay to not have NFC.

B28 is not a "deal killer" for everyone.

Entirely depends on your provider and location. I haven't had band 28 on my current phone of 2 years and have had way faster speeds and better connections on phones brandishing b28 (with other carriers).

For $10 less I think Redmi Note 8 Pro is much better value. Its got B28, NFC. Yoy get the same amount of RAM, ROM and a MTK CPU G90T.

    • Even $8 less maybe with first time sign up @tecobuy

  • Just put on 10.0 Pixel Experience on my year old Poco F1. Still a great phone. Fast, great battery life and great camera.

However, it's no longer my daily because KFC NFC is too convenient. Otherwise, it would still be my daily.

    • My Nokia 7 just got android 10 , has nfc and band 28 …and that is 2 years old now ($299 from JB) last update android version update , now just security patches ….android phones have come a long for software support unless you get country specific models e.g India or China specifics.

  • Ulefone U3H

    Also receiving android 10.
