Sennheiser RS 120 Wireless Headphone $129.97

220

Just went to office work and showed them the site. They matched it but didn't give the 5% discount due to the shipping fee. Used a coles employee card and got it anyway =)

Good headphones got it for myself for father's day. Cheapest I found else where was office works for $178. Hard to find in office works had to go to 3 different stores.

I actually bought two pairs of these headphones a few months ago from www.themp3outletstore.com.au. Nothing but good things to report. They are great quality headsets and the company was professional with quick delivery. The guy who owns the business was very helpful - much better to buy direct and support these smaller companies who are actually offering a fair deal, than to run around trying to get an ow to price match…But yeah…this is by far cheapest price I found too for these awesome headphones. plus shipping was only 10 flat rate for the two pairs if i remember right, not bad really

That's my story exactly. Great service (I think this shop is attached to Springwood Hi-Fi as the address is the same), great headphones, great price.

The sound is excellent, they are light and extremely comfortable, good range, you can charge two pairs on one base station, and there are three channels to choose from. We have two base stations in case I want to listen to music from the downstairs base station (but can be anywhere in the house) while someone is watching TV upstairs.

These have been one of my best ever investments as we can watch TV at night without my kids staying awake, and if the kids want to watch it early in the morning they don't wake me up, or if they want to watch some kids show with high pitched squeals that just annoys the heck out of me, problem solved. My brother reckons it saved his marriage because he watches TV when his wife goes to bed across the hall, and my mother in law wants a pair for my father in law who is going deaf and wants the TV up too loud.

Please note: This price is with the base station, and there are lots of sites and ebay sellers that charge this for the headphones alone. Don't buy the wrong thing!

      • As far as i can tell there isn't a volume control option on the set - is that correct?

        • +1

There is a volume control on the head set. It's annoyingly close to the frequency adjustment control thou.

        • Thanks!

Good price for Aussie, bought a pair for $175 from HN about 2 months ago (just to make up my $250 for the $50 AMEX Cashback… so I was ok with the price)

Too bad for Sennheiser's differential pricing between US and here:

Or even the UK has it better than us:

      66USD ….
I wouldn't pay 129.97AUD for the same product, that's quit unfair
moreover, this is old model. i would suggest getting RS160(120USD plus 40USD shipping cost)

      • Tried to buy it from Amazon but they won't ship to Aus. Wouldn;t mind getting a 2nd set. Is there a way around this?

the 5% coles discount isnt supposed to be accepted for pricematches but i guess it depends on the cashier - i've been turned down before when trying to use it.

I discovered my neighbours' porn preferences with a pair of these (well, RS-130s to be exact). In turn I figure they know what movies/music I'm into :)

    • haha, that statement just made me think twice about buying them.

    This isn't bluetooth?

    • +2

No - pure analog radio frequency, but clear at my car out on the street, and great sound.

shame i can't use it for my phone/laptop without the base.

I was really thinking of purchasing these six months ago and went through quite a few reviews, the majority said that since it uses radio frequency its full of static and other related issues. I suggest people actually checking a few reviews before purchasing these.

  • I have a pair of these, dont use them alot but when i do they r great, would definately recommend them

  • Good post, good to see themp3outletstore here, I've been looking and the sandisk sansa clip + for a while.

  • I bought these awhile ago and they are pretty good. They do static a bit if you go next to a Microwave etc (which is annoying when cooking etc). The static noise can be quite loud and can happen often if you are not sitting still.

  • Bought these from the same store last year. Definitely recommend the www.themp3outletstore.com.au. I had actually ordered the cheaper model (without rechargeable batteries and built-in recharger) but I guess he ran out of stock so he sent me this model at no extra charge, which I think saved me $40 or so from memory.

The phones themselves are OK. As mentioned by others, they use an analogue radio signal. You lose sound fidelity in this process - they probably offer FM sound quality or thereabouts. I use them for tv and gaming, but if you're after high fidelity a wired set at half the price would sound better.

Another $70 gets you the RS 160

    …just sayin. ;)

Hmm, that is a pretty good price for the RS-160. But the trouble with 2.4 GHz digital is possible inteference with wireless networks, phones, etc. My Philips pair worked great until I decided to relocate the wireless router, after which the audio signal would be corrupted/lost at random intervals.

Other thing that's annoying about them is the less convenient button volume control. The analog models use a good old dial.

      • Very good points there… as well as the 'signal leakage' you mentioned a few posts ago. I think I'll 'rethink' the RS 160.
I'm happily using bluetooth stereo headphones now but figured I could get better sound quality than what I'm getting. I guess I'll just keep on looking. ;)

        … ok I've finished ranting.

        • Don't get me wrong, the analog ones have their issues too (subtle background hiss, intermittent static, volume level / gain control quirks), but the digitals bring new annoyances while fixing the old.

  • If you care about sound quality and having wireless, get bluetooth headphones. and at this price, you could get really good wired ones like ATH-A700.

  • bought one from officeworks last night. very nice. it worked like a plug and play device. got them out of the box plugged in and started working.
There is a bit static noise but other than that its pretty good.

    • The static is going to vary, if you live in a populated apartment block, you'll have a different opinion ;)
