good vac, but not a great price. most previous deals have been $400-$450.

    • I bought the V8 animal for $380 during Black Friday, was really happy with the purchase.

      • same here…great value for $380!

wife is super happy….vacuums just for fun now.

only criticism is that the dust bin capacity is rather small, so needs constant cleaning. other than that, suits us perfect.

    Any deal on replacement battery

    • Were there ever deals on repair parts for Dyson appliances?

    • They're only $85 from Dyson so not too bad as it is (about what you'd pay for similar capacity Ryobi power tool battery). But, I've heard that Dyson are quite good for replacing bad batteries even OOW so try that first if it's local stock.

      • great will try them out

  • Our Dyson V6 died recently. I replaced the battery about 6 months ago and it's toast again (blinking), and I'm not keen to get a new battery anymore.

The Dyson was easy to use but even when recently purchased, the battery didn't last for too long. Unfortunately the batteries can't be easily replaced with charged spares on the go, so in practice we had to vacuum most of our home one day, leave it charging, and finish vacuuming the next day. I'm tired of that - it's 2020 and I think we should be doing better by now.

Has anybody used another good stick vacuum, with replaceable batteries on the go, that cleans well and is easy to use? I've been looking at the Ryobi but haven't tried it yet

V6 is a 5+yr old design so you can't expect 'now' performance. Change brands if you want, but the current alternatives will be no better than current dyson models. V8 is miles ahead of the V6, and the V10/11 even more betterer again.

I don't think swapable batteries are necessary. The V8 can't do our whole house but I never need it to because our vacuuming habits changed a lot with a stick vac. Swapable batteries probably add bulk and weight and I would rather just work around the time limitation.

I had a look at they Ryobi when they first came out and there's a few big flaws: no in dock charging, easily clogged filters and an annoying power on sequence (1st press suction, 2nd press power head). I wouldn't touch it.

I'm asking if anybody has experience with another one, didn't really ask for a Dyson rep to try and sell me their stuff. I know what Dysons can do. I don't need to "change my habits" just because a Dyson battery lasts just a few minutes. Thanks. Feel free to do it if you want though.

"No dock charging": who needs that when you can remove the battery and just charge it on its own. The rest of the stick vac can stay under a bed, with no need to showcase it. That's where vacuums always were before fancy brands decided you needed a dock charger.

"Easily clogged filters": Have you really ever used a Dyson regularly? With real house dirt/carpet fibers/hair instead of M&M's like TV ads? That thing is always clogged. Last week I saw the cleaning person in my local Westfield struggling to clean the filter of a Dyson, just like everybody else does in real life.

"Annoying power sequence": Some people are willing to "change their habits" and vacuum their house in 3 days just because they have a battery limitation. Let's just say an "annoying power sequence" is the least of my worries, I'm willing to "change my habits" for the power sequence if the vacuum works well.

No need to get stroppy. You can take or leave my comments as you please.

Ive tried the Ryobi so thought I’d offer my first hand opinion, albeit just from a test in store (and a bit of research). It’s got some issues Id find annoying coming from the dyson so you might to. Maybe not deal breakers for you but worth consideration nonetheless.

If 2nd battery is a must then there’s probably much better options such as the LG stuff. If it’s not the get a xiaomi if you’re anti dyson.

Yes I use a Dyson regularly, in a biggish mixed floors house with 3 young kids and a dog. The old DC44 (similar performance to your v6) wouldn’t cut it but the V8 has worked well enough than our corded vac hasn’t been used in ~2yrs.

The dock charging and ‘showcasing’ (ie. ready to use instantly) is ideal for our heavy daily use. If storing under a bed works for you then we must have very different needs. You might be better suit to a corded vac?

We tried this from godfreys. Has removable batteries. https://www.godfreys.com.au/wertheim-evolution-handstick-w73…

Shark F80 might be your thing. A mate has one and it seems pretty good. Comes with 2 removable batteries.
