WARNING about AFTER7 Online Retailer - Not Supplied Goods and Doesnt Answer Email Phone or Web Chat

I purchased three things total near two hundred dollars from After7.com.au on the 24th January.

Two out of three are still missing nearly three weeks later .. so I emailed them back to their order email - which is [email protected] 6 days ago asking where the other two items were. As of today, they did not reply to an email for six days .. this company advertised 24 hour dispatch!

So I sent a followup email, and also called their phone number, and started a live chat session on their website. No response on any of them. Second email not replied, phone went to voicemail (I left a message) and live chat is just empty. It's 11am in Victoria where they are located..

So what should I do, any suggestions?

It's purchased with a credit card, through Paypal. I'm thinking that I need to do a chargeback for the pieces that did not arrive, via the credit card. Can any members offer suggestions. Industry ombudsmen, australian consumer guarantee etc?

My suggestion of course is .. stay away from After7 :( .. they are either fraud or terrible terrible with both delivery and customer service :(

It looks like a scam website best to do chargeback

I received one of the three items in this order, and another item I purchased in another order. So not total scam, but so disappointing they don't respond to contacts.

You seriously went to that website and purchased something, and expect that they actually have local stock? They sell absolutely everything, if they aren't simply rip off merchants, they are drop shippers at best.

Why do people buy from obviously dodgy drop shipping sites?

Edit - lol, looks like their location is a startrack warehouse according to google maps.

I guess I didn't think so carefully, they had some unusual items I wanted .. then I browsed and bought some more.

Local stock isn't such an issue for me, but taking near three weeks and not responding to any medium of contact, well that's an issue!

      Good pickup on the location.

      • The location on google maps appears to be the warehouse behind the startrack one.

    What an odd shopping site.

    Google reviews are friggin dodgy.

Clearly photoshopped (or MS Paint) sign on a building when you google their name. Hilarious.

  • Attempting to go to this website on my work PC, the web filter blocks it as malicious content

  • Inteesting that they do ZipPay/Afterpay
our work uses Zip as a payment option and they do so many checks including coming out to our site before letting us use their services.

Maybe they use ZIP as a way of getting your login info so they can steal it

    1. This is a drop shipper.
    2. You made your purchase during the worst time of year resulting in lengthy delays with items shipped from China due to Chinese New year and made even worse this year by the Corona Virus outbreak.
    3. The drop-shipper has no control with the shipping or logistics so all they can do is to buy more time. They can do this either by being honest and open about the shipping delays or they can choose to lie through their teeth and come up with every excuse under the sun.
    4. If you are unable to wait any longer and also considering the seller is not reachable then I don't see any other option other than initiating a CC charge-back.

You could also contact the rep, but they haven't been on for almost a week.

If you paid by PayPal via credit card, you open PayPal case first. If you just chargeback, you risk PayPal suspending your account.

Thank you very much for all the comments and suggestions.

I have received something from them so they are not a total scam, however not responding to any of their contact methods is heading into scam territory.

Given the corona virus / dropshipping situation, I am inclined to wait till the end of the week, then lodge a Paypal complaint. I really appreciate the tip about going through Paypal first. I buy hundreds of things a year from via Paypal so hopefully they would not want to block my account, but with Paypal who knows right?

The issue is that the creditcard chargeback will take the money away from Paypal.

By raising a case with Paypal, they will pursue the seller on your behalf and investigate that way. If they find in your favour, they'll take the money back from the seller. Definitely go Paypal first.

    • Rep is online now, and has just posted a deal.

There you go then…products are most likely sourced from the country where we see massive delays from these days…

  • You guys are awesome, thanks for the great suggestions and info!

  • You are so lucky you used credit card and not afterpay or the other payments, you can do a charge back and be assured you can recoup your money.

    • I only ever use credit card for online purchases .. for the chargeback protection. I use it through paypal whenever possible.

Even debit cards have no chargeback protection.

      • Visa/MC Debit Cards have chargeback protection.
