  • customers more then 12 months can neg at 10% off

  • How much is first bottle (99 only applies after first bottle is ordered)

  • I just bought a house who is provisioned gas from Elgas.

How does it work if I switch to this? I'm guessing I'd be saving money?

    • +2

Don’t get sucked into using Elgas just because the previous owners/tenants used them. They definitely have a strong marketing team and will still send you mail even if you leave them.

The best solution is to find out which companies supply your area, then ask them all for a quote for the following and put it in a spreadsheet:

      • Rental cost per cylinder (usually per year)
      • Cost per replacement cylinder/onsite refill
      • Current deals
      • How and when they apply price rises (most will say with market rates)
      • Ask if they price match competitors

Watch out for price creep, almost all suppliers are guilty of it and you will eventually be paying $150 a cylinder (or more) if you let them get away with it, push back and you’ll keep the price down.

      • Thank you so much.

    Complete scam.

Can anyone please show where in the 'terms and conditions' it states the cost of rental for each bottle. By getting you to sign up to two bottles they charge you rental on each one. Fine print must show all costs associated with deal. I clicked on the 'terms and conditions' link and it takes me to the original page.

All of my friends in rural areas use Bunnings or BCF refills on special. When you do the maths on these companies it works out around 33% cheaper over time to use 2 x 9KG gas bottles. Yes it's more hassle changing them all the time but it still works out far cheaper in the long run.

Average Cost per bottle (2012 prices)

How much does a 45kg gas bottle cost?
    A 45kg bottle cost about $120 each + $35 rental per year.

Which is fine if you only use it for cooking, but some gas hot water systems won’t work on the 9kg bottles.

  • Cheaper to have your 9Kg filled at Anaconda and pay no rental on the bottle..

    • $15 for 9 Kg gas cylinder refill with bar code no longer available at Anaconda Cannington, Perth.

    • +1

Agree for 9kg - but this deal is for 45kg.
Running a house with gas hot water would be no fun on 9kg bottles!
