Coles E-Vouchers 15% off

Mod : This was originally a classifieds listing that was unpublished for breaching classifieds guidelines. However, due to multiple reports of non-delivery of gift cards after payment, buyers have requested for this thread to be re-opened so that discussion between buyers can continue.

Note that as stated in the notice in the classifieds section, OzBargain is providing the platform to allow users to create free listings and facilitate communication between interested parties - we do not offer buyer protection or facilitate payments. OzBargain takes no responsibility for the condition of physical goods, failed deliveries or financial transactions, and will not be involved in any disputes that occur.

Original text of listing as follows:

Hi OzBargain crew.

I have some more Coles vouchers for sale. This my third round of selling after lots of success.

I have $800 worth of E-Vouchers in total, happy to split them. I'm offering 15% off the usual price.

For example, a $100 voucher will cost $85.

All vouchers will be sent out ASAP, due to the long valentines weekend, storms, bushfires due to global warming there was little I could do.

Lets battle through these hard times as brothers and sisters and not fight one another:)

      • Yea I thought so too (saw it in some other post), and pretty sure it wasn't the same user.

    • Are u talking about this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/405327?

The classified is by op but the said scamster is someone else… not op.

      • Yea true so OP has sold this before but the response rate was rather questionable this time

        • OP this time said “This my third round of selling after lots of success.”

Any idea about the first two “rounds”? I can only see one classified post for $1000 worth of Coles vouchers (only one person commented/PM’ed)

Edit - found the second ad which was $500 at 6% off (two people commented)

  • I paid $340 also for $400 worth voucher to bankwest acc.

    • +1

Ohhh… we still have more casualties 😔

  • I also paid $85 for $100 gift card via osko ING

  • Looks like there are more victims who haven’t reported at here. I’m wondering if OZB will do anything to help us this time…

    • +7

      Why should they?

Members do so at their own risk. OzBargain does not offer buyer protection or facilitate payments. OzBargain takes no responsibility for the condition of physical goods, failed deliveries or financial transactions, and will not be involved in any disputes that occur.

      • Just wondering because this scam is large amount,. If everyone does this, who will make deal on OZB in the future?

        • +2

What do you expect ozBargain to do?

        • +2

          Not ozbargains fault, or problem.

    • Massive dinner

God, how much money OP has been capitalised

      • Wow this is much more than I thought

        • There could be a few more who are afraid to come forward, ask "@deadZed" for a more comprehensive list

          • @bonz: There are users PM me that they don't want their name to be explosed

            • +3

@SnoozeAndLose: I think if all of us lodge a dispute to OP's bank account it will likely trigger an investigation which may allow us to get back our money quicker.

              • +2

@profeeder55: I was going to lodge a fraud dispute with my own bank Westpac. Would your method be more appropriate?

                • +1

@Kdw26488: It's the same thing essentially. e.g I lodged through ANZ, you lodged through Westpac.
BankWest will then have to investigate this onto OP's account (unsure if it is actually OP for now could be hacked)

                  • @profeeder55: We could easily confirm from members who have purchased from this fella on his previous deals if his bank account matches to rule out the "hacking" excuse.

                    • @Kdw26488: That's a good idea actually. However, I do find it hard to believe that someone who spends 2 years to build up a proper Ozb profile uses it to scam the community. Like really? 2 years to scam $5k from your own community ?

              • +1

@profeeder55: I already filed a dispute with Bankwest after giving him an ultimatum

                • +1

@bonz: Did the same except giving ultimatum. Hoping for the best !

                  • +1

@profeeder55: Bankwest also advised me to report to police

            • @SnoozeAndLose: Apart from @User and @FullPrice i suspect there'll be more who are too shy to admit being scammed

We can now assume that 'Zed's dead'?

  • +3

OP is running away with $4420 but bank and police may be chasing after him now.

  • A deal too good to be true. You can only deal with eBay/AmEx/Prezze if it is 10%+ off eBay/Coles/Wish giftcards.

  • Anyone get there money back? Op has been on ozbargain several times since.

    • Nope

      • +1

Wow. Sucks for you guys, hope you get it back at some point.

    • He's definitely lurking.

      Logging in @ 4am like a rat.

Probably viewing Anon based off his comment history,

he was very active most days at an average of ~2 comments a day since his account creation

Probably logging in when high. Classic drug addict move screwing people over from a community you've been part of.

        • +2

Hope police will get to him. Bank will chase after him

          • +1

@SnoozeAndLose: Would be surprised if they don't, having everyone send it to a legit bank account would surely make it quite easy to track down.

            • +1

@brendanm: But OP still hiding behind. Karma will get to him soon.

              • +2

@SnoozeAndLose: Hopefully there's enough reports to the police to get them to actually start doing something

Any one who got scammed hasn't report to your bank, bank west and https://www.cyber.gov.au/report

If you haven't dome 8t, I urge you to do so asap.

      • +10

I don't really understand what is your point of your comment?

        • -5

Well neg for a opinion that most likely ( I'd bet my house) is true !
Is there something wrong with facts people?

          • +1

@popsiee: You statement is nothing to do with my comment. I don't think my comment state anything about ozbargain mod should take responsibility. Instead your statement make no sense commenting on what I have posted, fact or not is irrelevant

            • -6

@SnoozeAndLose: I know its complicated for you but actually it has to do with your comment of this incident is most likely under reported and thus less action will be done people who have been scammed via your link and this site .
I won't waste anymore of my time on this as its like I'm talking another language .

              • @popsiee: What action you suggesting to take then?

What you are doing is to bad or understate people action and comment without providing any help? Are you providing help or you just want to pull people down?

                • @SnoozeAndLose: Don't think popsiee deserves so much hate
Assume they were just pointing out that there would be more victims too embarrassed to go public (% under reporting)

                  • +1

@randomusername2017: Their reply had nothing to do with the comment. snoozeandlose provided a link to police online fraud. People wouldn't be "going public" by reporting anything.

                    • @brendanm: True.. but you get the feeling they weren't replying directly to that comment, given the reference to the TA comment

                      • @randomusername2017: Then they should learn how to reply, and not get their back up when questioned about it.

          • -2

@popsiee: They are reporting to the police online fraud division, not ozbargain, how dense are you?

      • +3

That has absolutely nothing to do with the site that snoozenadlose linked.

  • End of that

  • OP last seen 28/3, I urge you to return of everyone's $ asap. Everyone is doing tough during this time.

    • +1

DeadZed was last seen around 3 am today 28/4 he last logged in also on the 28th day of the month, let's see if he will next login on 28/5

  • +4

Still waiting to hear back from my bank on this…

  • How odd. He posts cards fairly frequently on ozbargain which sell. So he has a history of selling. Maybe he is genuine and is struggling to source the cards?

EDIT: If he was genuine surely he would post an update though.

    • +4

You should read the thread better.

As one of the first victims I can safely say after he kept selling past his original $800 of gift cards I knew it was likely this individual was robbing us.

      Premeditated
      Opportunistic
      Criminal.

Past history of selling incites buyer confidence.

He’s not to bright stealing 4-5k from 20 odd people, you don’t know their history or how hellbent they would be to pursue him by all means necessary for compensation. Whatever floats his boat maybe he enjoys being chased by authorities or victims. I certainly wouldn’t want to play that game if I was in his shoes with this many people involved for such a small amount in hindsight.

  • +2

Sent to the sin bin with no expiry…

  • Any update to this? Still trying to track oP?

  • Wow, what a scumbag.

I'm sure it's been discussed before but i really wish something could be implemented into the classifieds forum to show a a rep or seller status. I sweat bullets when i send off funds to a random user but it'd probablymake me feel slightly safer.

    • +1

That's the thing tho, he had prior sales…

      • +1

Yep I saw that, that makes him more of a scumbag, and makes me more nervous 😶. Never know who you can trust.

  • +2

There really should be a rate system in place for example 1 to 5 stars for public to know they are reputable sellers

  • +1

What are the updates ? Does someone get his money back from bank ? Seller is in PenaltyBox, what does that mean ?

  • +3

What was the outcome of this thread?

Did people get their money back?
