2 Free BGL Monitors for Type 1 Diabetics Only - Optium Xceed and/or Freestyle Lite

50

Just got 2 free BGL monitors from YouSave Chemist in Crows Nest. Optium Xceed and a Freestyle Lite. Just had to show NDSS card to prove I was Type 1 diabetic then fill out a warranty card for each monitor. Only catch, they only come with a few strips so I had to buy some, but they only cost a dollar a pack under my NDSS and healthcare card. Good to have a couple of spares.

Blood Glucose Monitors are dirt cheap; the proprietry strips are how they make money. (Not dissimilar to printers.)

    • Beacause the strips are paid by the government(i.e. Your Tax $$) under NDSS scheme, they are sold as 1-2 dollars if you are on a concessional card.

It is just same as the reason why you can buy the printers as dirt cheap price; if you buy a particular model, you are likely to refill with a expensive branded cartridges! That is how they earn they $$ from you.

In the case of blood monitors, since the strips are most subsidised by the Governement, there is a lot of wastage and abused (such as send them overseas to friends!)

With the money I save on this type-1 BGL monitor I can afford extra candy and, hopefully, develop type 2 diabetes.

    • Made me lol even tho my sister has Type 1 Diabetes. Dont think u can get both.

    • yeah wrong but funny

    • I think yousave have pretty cheap jellybeans too so you can save double!
