  • Sorry, but this is not a bargain

Ha cause we all got the ow ones i7 for 569 hell yes!

    • Because… ?

      • Apology for the delay…work priorities:

        Because….where do I start?

        1. For starters you need to add $29.00 to the deal for standard eparcel shipping (don't believe their claims of using express couriers etc).

        2. Don't take much notice of the RRP…for example a quick look shows the Good Guys have these for $100 more - once you take down the price with the normal haggle and the shipping fee of MLN you wouldn't be very far apart (if at all) and you get the added benefit of getting the laptop then and there over waiting 7+-14 days for MLN to finally get it to you. Also, lot easier dealing with a store then dealing with MLN who take their sweet time in replying to emails (only form of contact with online orders). Ringing MLN to ask a question/query anything in relation to online orders will have them tell you its nothing to do with them (even though under the MLN banner) and to email the "online guys".

        3. This computer is mediocre in its performance (would be OK if it was cheaper) and better bang for the buck deals out there and as scrimshaw pointed out it’s not hard to find a better deal for the less money and with the discount code finger provided much cheaper. Why would you even look at the Samsung with the current price of the Lenovo unless you have a thing against Lenovo.

So in summary - better value out there and better service = no bargain.

  • Uhmm according to this: http://www.shopbot.com.au/pp-samsung-sf511-s02au-i5-2410m-pr…, this is a bargain (if free shipping is included too!)

    • If you click on the links almost all those prices are wrong and much higher on the actual websites.

  • +2

It currently is the cheapest Samsung SF511 out there, but I've seen laptops with better specifications (sans the USB 3.0)

    E.g Lenovo Edge E520

For $649 + ($1 for 320GB portable drive) you get the same cpu, same amount of RAM, but faster 6630m graphics card and 7400 RPM drive. You can even upgrade to a 9 cell battery and it'll still come out cheaper.

    • Nice. Thanks for the link. It's now a 500GB external by the way.

  • Guys this Samsung SF511 is a different machine, its a premium end machine, that will boot into windows in 3 seconds, it really was a bargain,
you can get cheap machines with high specs for less, not with this design, screen and features.
Sometimes for $50 more you can get $100's of dollars worth of bargains, plus you dont have to buy it online, its the same price in store.

    • I agree. A friend of mine has this laptop and I think it is amazing. Great battery life, nice screen and like you said, fast boot up. Only problem for me is that I don't like 15.6 inch screens. Now tell you what, do a deal on the ASUS U31F and you got yourself a sale. MSY have got them for $699 on clearance at the moment, let me know if you can do better. Also, the U31SD just came out, so let me know what price they will be going for. If they are not that different in price might just have to go for that one instead. Thanks

      • Bubber, we had the U31 for $688 last week,
I recommend you sign up to our deals, it was already cheaper.

  • 3 secs boot to windows? This laptop doesnt even comes with ssd, and i dont think theres ssd that can boot in 3secs. Errr…

    • Maybe he meant wake up from sleep or hibernate in 3 seconds. No way in hell can you start windows in 3 secs from a cold boot.

    • it does, different techonology, read about it online, it boots into windows within 3 seconds, there is a seperate flash module on board that allows for full boot within 3 seconds,
the battery lasts for 6 weeks, so its not hibernation.
This is propriety Samsung technology, very very impressive.
All future ultrabooks will have this technology, currently Samsung is the pioneer.
You never switch the computer off, but the battery never dies, this is the same as your iphone, it never switches off either, when you power down, its in a suspended state.
Hibernation still leaves everything active and this is why the battery dies within 24 hours.
      This stuff is impressive.
