TCL Plex - Android 10 Update - How to Install?

Hello,

Purchased the phone via deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/518313. Came with Android 9 out of the box. However upon checking online, Android 10 has been released via OTA update. https://www.gsmarena.com/tcl_plexs_android_10_update_starts_…

However when I try to update, it say's Android 9 (V1.0.1.A.C.6) is the latest. Anyone else who purchased this phone able to update to Android 10?

Thank you!

  • Try XDA forums, they will have all the answers.

    • Ah good call, thanks! Sorry recently switched from iOS to Android and embracing the software freedom :)

  • What are your DNS Settings?

    • 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare free public DNS)

      • Have you tried setting it to auto?

        • Let me give it a try

          • @PLA74: Any luck?
I'm thinking it's a slow or halted release as there is nothing online.

            • @Low Punt: No luck, yeah or they could be releasing the update region by region. Hopefully is out soon!

              • @PLA74: Got your update yet? Mine is still stuck on 9

  • where is 10 damnit!? -_-

  • Would be happy with a security patch at this point

  • +1

    Android 10 available now

    • Woohoo, thank you. Yes updating rn :)

  • Thanks for the update!

Anyone manage to get a case for this phone other than the stock one?

  • Sorry for the necro, but this seemed the most relevant place I could find to put this where people who actually have this phone might see it.

My TCL Plex hasn't prompted me to install a single update since it was purchased in February - it's still running the Dec '19 security patch. Going into Settings -> System doesn't show any update tab at all. I've tried emailing Alcatel Mobile numerous times, but never received a response. If anyone knows how they can be contacted beyond their basic web contact form I'd be extremely grateful.

I haven't tried resetting to factory defaults because it's a massive PITA - it took a couple of weeks to set it up the first time as I have lots of 2fa security keys for work that are unique to the device, something I'd rather not have to go through again if it can be avoided.

Updates should be a basic feature of any phone for at least three years, this is incredibly frustrating.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I might try to get this working? I can't even find a way to manually configure the IP address, gateway or DNS settings if I want to override the DHCP auto-configuration (I can see the details of the connected wifi network, but there's no way to change them).
