    With apologies to another member…

    Tell 'em the price son!

    • +2

Obviously, OP didn't get it. (I've fixed the deal for them.)

  • +2

Glenfarclas 12 unfortunately not discounted for me and still at $116. No issues with the others in their range so may as well pick up the 15 for cheaper.

    • Same. I would have picked up the Glenfarclas 12 if it was discounted

    • I've removed it from the deal.

      • I bought it for 69.95 just now, make sure you're logged in.

        • You must be in Vic

        • I've added it back to the deal. It's for VIC only.

          • +1

@robinCTS: It was coming up as out of stock even for delivery. I changed to a different store and was able to do click and collect.

            • @Nicktorious: Thanks.

If you check out my spun-off Glenfarclas Single Malt deal, you'll see I've already updated the details there. It was available for delivery (to anywhere in Australia), but now it's only C&C at some stores in VIC.

Too hard to keep this deal updated, too 😉

i'm new to having an account on ozb

i'd love it if booze was under its own category and i could choose not to view that category when browsing deals

really doesn't help with my recovery

    • +14

A good idea for an extremely valid reason

    • -5

Best bet is to stay off the internet.

      • +10

i generally don't get alcohol advertising or "deals" in my various feeds but for ozb.

i'm not being a d about it, i think it's a solid suggestion and others trying to maintain their sobriety would probably appreciate it, too

edit: this is only tagged as groceries, not even as alcohol… so that would need to be moderated i guess

        • +1

There is a 'blocked' section in the settings menu. Would need some moderation as you said but a possible solution is a 'blocked tags' category and tag these deals as alcohol.

          • +2

@NachoMafia: You can also block all deals from dan murphys which is kinda weird that bliz hasn't done this already but i'm just kermit the frog over here

        • edit: this is only tagged as groceries, not even as alcohol… so that would need to be moderated i guess

🤔 I originally had the Alcohol tag in there, but, as sometimes happens depending on the other tags used, it was auto-removed. Seems to have stuck now.

          • @robinCTS:

            Seems to have stuck now.

Not quite - keeps disappearing after every edit. I think I've figured out a work-around to force it to stay, though.

I’d also like booze to be under its own category so I could choose to view only that category.

  • Thanks! Snagged 2 bottles of Glenfarclas

Wow Laphroaig Quarter Cask is only $84.95. That's a pretty crazy discount, wish they brought Triple Wood down as much :(

    • Have you tried the Quarter Cask? I’m considering grabbing one but haven’t had this one. Is the peat very prominent or reasonably subtle?

      • +1

Laphroaig doesn't have a subtle setting.

I think QC is less intense than the 10yo, but it's not subtle.

      • My wife says the house smells like a bonfire as soon as I open the bottle.

    • +1

      same is Quarter Cask good?

      • +4

Yes. It's very ashy, a sweeter peat than Laga and Ardbeg, less smoked meats/nuts, more stright up ash and smoke. IMO the 10yo lacks a bit of oomph at 40%. The QC at 48% is just right IMO.
If you ever get the chance, the 10yo cask strength is better than all of them. But it's very hard to come by and crazy expensive down here.

    • Laphroaig Triple Wood is cheaper here $110:
      https://gooddrop.com.au/laphroaig-triple-wood-single-malt-sc…

I haven't tried the regular Triple Wood, but picked up a bottle of Càirdeas Triple Wood Cask Strength when I visited Islay last year. One of the best, if not the best, whisky I've ever had.

Cheers OP I grabbed the Glenfarkyas 12, the quarter cask laphroig and the $31 black douglas mixer

I don't know any words in this thread.

    • +1

The only word you need to know is "flavour". Most of these other words in this thread translate directly to that word in one way or another.

  • Anyone else having issues with the checkout page? Need to top up on Laphroaig

  • No afterpay 😭😭

    • 5% Wish discount

      • Does that stack with CashBack?

        • +1

          Yes.

        • Get the gift cards though Cashrewards and they're a payment method. Stacks with all cashback.

          • @Fobsessive: Oh so CR keeps them on hand to use through CR?

I have some I bought a while back, I'll try use it!

            • +1

              @[Deactivated]:

Oh so CR keeps them on hand to use through CR?

Not quite. You purchase eGift Cards at a 5% discount through them. You don't need to use them through CR, though. Can be used at any Woolworths Group physical store as well.

Of course, if you do go through CR, you get the cashback.

  • Which has the largest discount?

I barely drink whiskey, but literally all my mates do so makes great gifts!

    • It is a very personal taste, and whisk(e)y comes in so many flavour profiles. Understand who you are buying for, if they like mild, fruity, sweeter whisky, get the Glenfarclas 12 (steal at this price). If they like more bold, smokey/peaty stuff, get the Laphroaig varieties (quarter cask is the biggest discount here)

  • What’s the pick of the bunch here folks? I’ve been drinking a bit of Japanese of late and time to return to some of the highland types!

  • +1

I’ve never seen their site struggle before. It’s a special day.

    • Yep, charged through my Paypal then immediately refunded it… given up for now

      • Try again. I couldn’t get into anything via phone so jumped on the notebook PC and the site was playing nice. Grabbed a bottle of Laphroaig Quarter Cask.

  • Can anyone recommend a whisky in this list to me?

    • +1

      Laphroaig Quarter Cask
$50 discount, mentioned a few times above.

I think it has one of the largest discounts and 30+ reviews. It has one of the highest ratings too! Definitely read reviews on the website, generally people who bother to leave reviews actually care about what they drink.

      • Thanks! Thats what i picked up too but wanted to confirm.

  • Thanks OP. Picked up Laphroaig Quarter Cask - Ripper price. OZB'ers don't forget cashback.

  • Are there any others in the sale? Couldn't find a link to the whole thing.

  • Thanks OP! Grabbed Laphroiag QC and Glenfarclas 12.

Make sure you guys are logged in otherwise you won't see the online offer for Glenfarclas 12 (69.95).

    • GF 12 price seems to be only in VIC. $116 everywhere else

      • Lucky us then!

        • Ordered with postage. Chose a store in Melbourne. $76.85 Delivered NSW

  • CR calculated it on the original price, rather than discounted online price. Anyone else?

  • +4

If purchasing via ebay store, use code PICK100 for additional discounts off listed price.
E.g. if buying laphroaig QC x6, comes down to $76.67 per bottle.

    • +1

This is the real deal! $10 off Glenfarclas 15 is $99.95

      • Thanks. That's an excellent deal. Picked up another bottle of Glenfarclas 15

    • The code doesn't seem to apply for the ebay store

      • +1

Tested it on the Glenfarclas 15YO, 21YO, and 25YO. All worked fine.

Try clearing your browser cache, using private/incognito mode, and/or using a different browser/computer.

EDIT: Oh, and make sure Australia is correctly set up as your country in eBay.

  • Just ordered 5 bottles of quarter cask..best scotch ever!

  • jeeze mate good find thanks! gutted the Glenfarclas 12 is not that price in WA; have been looking for a well priced one for awhile. In other news picked up a Redbreast recently; very much enjoying it!

    • +3

Here's an idea. Enter your store as Melbourne. Buy it and get delivered to your address. It'll just cost + postage

      • +1

Yep. Thats exactly what I did. Still a good price.

      • good idea mate; thanks!

  • +1

Glenfarcas 15 YO on DM EBay - $99.95 (PICK100). Use GC for further discount. Free delivery with ebay plus

  • Anyone tried both the QC and Ardbeg 10? I really wasn't a fan of Ardbeg 10 - tasted too phenolic/hospital. I want a more campfire/ashy smoke.

    • +2

Yes. QC is not medicinal like ardbeg, it's more like sitting in front of a logfire with a cigar..

      • Thanks. Just what I want. I picked up a bottle.

  • Picked up a bottle of the Quarter Cask just as my last one finished… good timing OP!

    • +1

It's clear how ridiculous the pricing on the Japanese stuff has become when you look at these quality drams at very nice and sensible prices. Can't justify buying a 12 year old Jap Yamazaki or Hakushu at $300+ when you see these specimens.

  • All this hype on the Quarter Cask. Had to pick up a bottle. Thanks All

  • Thanks OP, got QC.

    • Picked up my click and collect QC this morning - going to taste it tonight :)

  • Has anyone been able to match the online prices in store?

    • You can match prices in store by placing an order via your phone while in-store - and then fanging around for 30 minutes until you get a text for collection ;)
