You can take 2, IIRC, guests in with you but AFAIK the pictured card holder has to be present at checkout and you can have the receipt subtotaled which makes it easy to work out who owes what. Not sure if you can get multiple cards on a normal household membership?

Costco Membership provides you with 2 cards, one for yourself and the other for a family member.

      at the same address

you can get an extra card for another person living at the same address (proof needed)

so house mates can do it not necessarily family

A free household Card is available to a primary cardholder’s spouse, domestic partner or immediate family member over the age of 18 and living at the same address. Household Cardholders will be asked to present proof that they live at the same address as the primary cardholder.

I googled that quicker than I typed that response

Just give them one of your change of address sticker and stick with the person who wants to share the membership cost with you.

  • only between family members.

Correct, one membership gets two memberships card as long as both parties live at the same address.

Each member can then take in upto 2-3 guests.

The catch, credit card payments have to be made in the memberships cardholders name….

Never been there. Why would people jump through so many hoops to shop at a store? Are they that much cheaper? Unless you live nearby it seems significantly less convenient than woolies or JB hifi etc

Depends on your circumstances and if you can take advantage of the bulk groceries and arguably higher quality meats/food than your ColesWorths.

The satisfaction guarantee is smoother than other stores in my experience. I've bought items and kept them for a good 9 months before realising the person I was going to give them to already got one in the meantime. Returned for a full refund no issues.

Also, local petrol prices a few days ago were flying up to more than $1.70c for E10, whilst Costco was a stable $1.18c. Not having to deal with those price fluctuations and I've come out ahead more than once over the course of a year.

      • Yes but I would have to drive 30mins to fill my car. I mean, there aren't that many around so it's not a viable fuel option for most people.

Guess it's cool if you're near one.

So just like I said, it depends on your circumstances. It's not for you.

@aragornelessar: Most Costco members weight it up and there might be one thing that sways them. For my sister who lives rurally, it's the quality of the meat and the discount on the booze.

For me, I live 15 minutes from a Costco so I tend to fill up there if I'm in the area, plus the dog food is cheap enough to offset the membership cost yearly just in itself

  • All you Costco members look alike!

    • Obese?

      • 18 gallons of full egg mayonnaise will do that to a person.

  • My nearest Costco is 27k away. So no I am not a member.

  • No. $60 a year gets you two membership cards. Only the person with the photo on the back may use the card.

  • Do they actually inspect the card?
Thinking if my brother gets it and then the next year i get it that way we never pay for membership and can use each other cards even though we don't live at the same exact address.
