Wow, super valuable contribution to the thread.

Good luck living or communicating in a technical world if this disappoints you.

  • +2

Pictures are misleading, it is the aluminium model with no leather strap

  • +6

This is the 40mm variant (I think) according to the description. JB is offering the 44mm.
40mm suits me more, but just thought I'd point that out.

Edit: Model number is for 44mm. Description says 4x4x1.1cm so I assumed 40mm.

    • +1

Model number indicates it's the 44mm version, aluminimum body.

    • Damn was getting excited there

      • My bad. 44mm is just too big I reckon!

        • For me I am on the same boat. Wish the 44mm looked better on me, with the increased battery life. I'm holding off for the 40mm stainless steel either silver or black.

          • @onlinepred: I wasn't aware of the battery life. How much longer does it last?

            • @CustardShot: Many reviews of the 40mm lte model say that with lte they can't get through a day.

              • @onlinepred: Ouch. I'd be looking at the wifi model anyway, but that's crazy.

                • @CustardShot: I was going to buy the wifi model, but not a fan of the shiny aluminum, the stainless steel looks so good

    • Zooming in on the 4th photo, the back of the watch case clearly says 40mm. Are the pictures of the wrong model?

There's confusion over the size in the reviews also:

      Q: Is this 44 mm?

      A: I believe I bought the 40mm

Pic also shows model # SM-R830

If not andriod wear why not just get cheaper amazfit?

    • This is currently the best smartwatch for Android. Amazfit is great if you are looking at budget watches.

      • -1

Tizen not exactly Android and apps very limited.

If just want basic features like GPS, Heart rate, notification, etc. Amazfit is enough for most people and battery life a lot better and thinner.

        • Yep and if you want more than basic fitness band features, you can get a smartwatch like the galaxy watch

    • I keep on coming back to this. If I am not getting Android wear then why pay so much. Cheaper providers provide the same for us without Samsung phones.

      • After owning a gen 5 carlyle HR, I can honestly say that wear OS is shit. It's not ideal, but tizen is so much better. Keep in mind that wear watches that compete with this, are far more expensive.

      • +1

WearOS is just crap. Feel free to get it, but you'll just regret how bad battery is and the experience.

  • Can anyone enlighten on its can-not-be used features when pairing with iOS?

  • +1

Does anyone know if it's 12% cashback because it's a watch or 3.5% because of mobile electronics? I'm hoping it's 12%

    • I am wondering the same thing, 12p is quite good

    • wondered the same thing so I did some digging. it's considered electronic, hence it will be 3.5%

      Source: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/453869

      • Yes, if you follow the category tree near the top it's under Electronics.

  • Thanks ccc just got one ow pb 5%. 44mm alum model paid $331.55

    • Wow says there is no stock with office works. Can get the 5% with gift vouchers also, so would be extra 5% off the price you paid.

    • OW in Windsor scanning this at same price as JBs so no luck here with PB🙁

Just a heads up on this watch, the battery life is pretty terrible - mine only lasted for one full day before needing a charge. Also the resale on these are terrible - if you do plan on selling then keep the box as a lot of buyers want it for some reason :/

    • +1

Unfortunately all smartwatches have average battery life at the moment. You need to start turning features off to last the day. Did you have the 44mm non lte?

      • My GW is decent at about 2 days before needing a charge, I'm a heavy user with lots of notifications. I have auto brightness activated and I don't have always on enabled as it's a blatant waste of battery.

    • +1

Depends which model, the GW will go 2-3 days no worries and the 44m GWA2 can get a couple.

      • +1

Not if you have everything activated

        • +1

You must not have owned a GW BT end of the day its at 80% with everything turned on.

          • @noise36: My wife has gw active1 ends the day at 60% AOD off. If she turns AOD on it's dead before we go to bed.

            • @onlinepred: No surprise the GWA has the smallest battery of all of them if not mistaken.

Do people actually use AOD? seems pointless to me, always had everything else turned on except that.

              • @noise36: I agree, but you can't say it lasts days, when to get that, you have to turn features off.

  • dont forget if you plan on using the altimetre to recalibrate before you start and along the route periodically. it can get out of whack pretty easily
