    Yay!

  • +1

    you mean Wednesday 26th, not 28th :)

    • Corrected. Thanks.

  • Does anyone know if this works if I pay with Coles gift cards?

    • +3

Yes it works. The only issue being sometimes the store attendant might not allow u to purchase a giftcard using giftcard.

    • +3

Yes, but you cannot part pay with a Gift Card. You need to have the full balance on the gift card - e.g. $50 gift card to pay for a $50 Netflix card.

If you pay $40 gift card and $10 eftpos or cash, it will be declined and not permitted.

      • -1

You can do that at a manned check out. In some stores they allow that.

        • Not always. I had to get the store manager one time to override the system. Second time they flat out refused.

"can only be collected once per gift card type and will not be awarded more than once for each gift card type"

Pretty mean compared to when Woolies do it.

    • Woolies and Coles are two different companies. They can do what they want. Coles offers bonus points when topping up Opal, Woolies doesn’t

      • Of course but it doesn't make my comment less true.

A true ozbargainer would wait for the equivalent Woolies deal where you can buy enough cards for a year on the same deal.

Will the Coles Netflix card work with Argentine subscription? I would assume this will be difficult

    • +2

No it won't. Coles Netlfix is in AUD currency but you're being billed in ARS. Netflix won't let you redeem it.

      • Okay so still cheaper to be living in Argentina/Turkey!

        • I was trying to start the subscription from Argentina/turkey but got stuck with phone verification. I had to take 1 month au subscription and validate phone first. I have now cancelled and waiting to try Argentina again in March. Just wondering if it's worth it after getting 20% off via gift cards.
How much are you paying currently in AUD and is it Argentina or turkey and which plan?

      • I just signed up to Argentina Premium at ARS 449. That converted to $11.00 when paid on a fee-free credit card. I am using the BankWest Platinum but there are other options.

  • Yeppie… been waiting for this.

Will get one of these - works out to a 20% discount

    • -1

      It's actually 16.67% discount…
      $10 (discount) / $60 (total value)

      • +1

Huh? Where are you getting $60 total value from. The total value is $50 - for which your total outlay will be $40 - which is 20% discount on $50.

        • -4

…except the total outlay is not $40 though is it … it's $50.

A better way to put it is…
          $10 (bonus) / $60 (total value)

          $50 + $10 bonus is not the same as $50 - $10 discount ..

          it's 16.67% discount… maths 101

          • +2

            @papapanda: $50 out, $10 in… 20%

            Maths 102

            • +1

@mgrob4: Technically, @papapanda is correct. The trick is that you don't get the $10 back to your wallet, it's money off your next shop (hence $60 total value).
On the other side, we all shop in the Coles/Wollies every week anyway, so one can see $FB in the same way as $AUD.

              • @[Deactivated]: Yeah agree it depends if you treat the points as a cash equivalent, if we had to spend it on a like for like product (say another Netflix Voucher) then yeah 10 into 60 - but I reckon most folk would be using FlyBuys as a cash equivalent.

I get the maths, but the look how smart i am Maths 101 shits me.

I believe the other guy is correct, not sure why he is downvoted.

    whats 2000points coles points worth?

2,000 Bonus Flybuys (Worth $10) with $50 Netflix or Gourmet Traveller Gift Cards @ Coles In-Store

  • I pay for Netflix via iTunes - can i still untilise this offer?

    • Don't think so. I couldn't when I was on a Google Play subscription

    • +1

unfortunately you can't. I pay for netflix through itunes and a friend gave me a netflix card for my birthday, to use it I would have had to start a new netflix account which would have been annoying and even worse I don't think you can start another account through itunes anymore.

    • I don’t think you can

    • What would be the point anyway? iTunes credit is regularly on sale anyway….

  • -3

I know the answer already but … Let it come from the maths wizzes …

    Question:

Is this offer giving 20% discount or 16.67% discount … ?

    :)

    • +5

Yes, very technically, it's 16.67%, when considered in isolation as a mathematics concept rather than a real world situation.

I shop at Coles regularly. It doesn't change my spend at Coles, but reduces it by $10, so getting technical is getting pedantic.

I didn't actually have to outlay an extra $10 to receive my benefit, I was going to buy those groceries anyway.

For all intents and purposes, it's a 20% discount if you shop at Coles.

$100 groceries (discounted to $90), and $50 Netflix card is $140.

Accounting for this as $50 Netflix card (discounted to $40, thus 20%), with the same $100 groceries is still $140.

Can we just cut out the pedanticness?

      • -1

wow .. didn't expect the question would bother people so much .. it's just a simple question .. i guarantee you Coles understand the difference ..

  • Anyone know for sure if this counts towards minimum spends for flybuy bonuses?

    • +1

Yeah I know for sure. It doesn't. Read the fine print.

      • Yeah I just looked at a bonus offer and it excludes them. Thanks. Recently someone thought otherwise but I was skeptical.

  • How many 2000 bonus point I can get per flybuys card ?

    • +1

      One per account

  • Has anybody received points for this/confirmed this is a non-targeted deal?

I didn't see any promo banners in Coles and nothing was noted on my receipt when usually it says something about hitting bonus rewards..

    • +2

      i) It's in the Coles catalogue …
ii) Bonus points are normally awarded the following evening after the qualifying purchase

    • yes, received in a couple of days after the transaction.

  • Standard Netflix
    $13.99 AUD less 20% = $11.19 AUD
    vs
    269 ARS = $6.61 AUD
